If there is a Ranger Raptor, which evidence points to the possibility, I see the Ranger getting the 2.7.

Now seeing as how the Ranger and Bronco share so much, I’m holding my breath for a 2.3 with a manual transmission in the next Ranger. Though that’s more of a pipe dream at this point, but it would get me to really consider upgrading from my 5th gen.

I know many are hoping for one but I would doubt it. If they are going to come out with a Ranger Raptor I can see the bigger motor going into that. Raptors usually come with a premium price too so most would save their money and just buy a regular Ranger with the bigger motor and mod it from there.

Edit: Damn my typing is slow lately! ?

Will the new Ford Ranger get the 2.7 Ecoboost ?
I think this was pretty much confirmed. The "nano" v6 for the next gen Ranger. Since the next gen Ranger and the Bronco shares the same platform makes even more sense.

I know on the B6G forum the manual tranny was way less than most expected. IIRC it was under 20% of the sales so I doubt they would put one in the next Gen Ranger.

Most manufacturers are doing away with the manual transmission option, so I’m not holding much faith in seeing one. Honestly it was the biggest reason I wanted a Tacoma over a Ranger.

If sales of the manual Bronco are down over the next year or two I can see them going back to just the auto on it too. Lets face it most now a day can't even drive a stick. ?

I went to test drive a manual trans TJ Wrangler not too long ago.

The salesman handed me the keys and said to go enjoy myself because he had no clue how to drive manual and couldn't even pull it out of its parking space.

I always appreciate when theres a manual option, even if its a small fraction of the total amount.

Always bothered me when cars that used to be only manual, are now only auto *cough cough gt500 cough*.

Yeah I would say more than half of my vehicles growing up were a stick. I would defiantly consider one in a sports car but I have no use for one in a truck or my Bronco. The one in the Bronco is nice with the crawler gear but at this point in my life I want simplicity when I'm off road. Plus my gf is almost always with me when off road and she's not the best spotter. I'll look over and she's usually texting someone pictures instead of spotting for me.

Another reason I went up to the High package was for the 360 camera. For $1,500 I figured it would save me all of that in potential body damage. lol

As much as I enjoyed the manual growing up, it was really the "cool" factor for the muscle car times. This Ranger with the tune is actually much better than anything I had then, especially as it'll squeak 'em is at least 3 gears in sport mode from a dead start and even get a squeeker on some roads when tromped...what could be better - yeah, monstrous V8 growl, but they are not as sporty :sunglasses:

Back then we didn't know any better as we had nothing to compare to. Drive one of those old muscle cars now and while fun going in a straight line they don't handle high speed corners well and there's not much comfort at all.

Funny because when I test drove the Bronco last week I was shocked at first how slow and unresponsive it was. It was the same 2.3 but then remembered I'm so use to mine being tuned it was really a night and day difference. It wasn't bad but the tune really makes a huge difference in the 2.3.

I hear the 5.0 mustangs are quicker with the 10 speed paddle shift than the 6 speed manual.

For me the joy of driving a stick started to fade after turning 40 LOL. Now I'd like one for a weekend/toy car but not for my daily driver.

Yeah, I’ve been looking at the F-150 1/4 mile times with both the 3.5, 2.7 and 5.0 times and my truck is faster than theirs ….so I won’t make a move until they come back in maybe 2023 with a 2.7 or 3.5 for the ranger..even their tuned 5.0 is still in the 13’s..
Regards
