@LegacyRanger asked me for the measurements; I figured I would post up the construction of my simple wood bed divider here with measurements in case anybody else is interested in a quick and easy project. I had this lumber piled in the corner of my garage from having to patch a hole in the wall after a foundation, water main leak project.

The bottom 2x4 has two measurements:
Bottom Edge- 58 3/4"
Top Edge- 59 3/8"

This is so it fits tighter to the bed sides and flatter to the bottom of the truck bed. This causes that bottom 2x4 (far left in the image below) to have a slight angle on either side. I used a compound miter saw to cut this. I'm sorry I don't remember what the angle was.

The very top 2x4 is 60 1/4" long. It was one of the random pieces of wood I had in the garage and it was already cut. It fit perfect!

The uprights between the top and bottom 2x4 are just 2" pieces of 2x4. There are five of them.

I secured the 2" pieces to the bottom board with a pocket hole jig. I assembled this at a buddy's house with his help and tools because I knew he had the jig. You could assemble this a different way without using a pocket hole jig.

The top 2x4 was secured by running two screws down from the top, down into each of the 2" uprights.

I like this divider because I will be able to throw my 5 gallon gas cans and a cooler between the divider and the tailgate for when we go out to fuel up our boat and get on the lake! No more gas can sliding around and falling over!

Great! Thank, John. This is really helpful. Will post an update when I get mine completed. May be a while 'til I can get to my grandpa's woodshop with all this stuff going on. One thing I really miss from my 2004 Ranger were the multiple (two close to cab and two close to tailgate) recessed areas in the bedliner which were sized for a simple 2x4 to fit into to make an impromptu divider at that location.

Oh yeah! I remember those on my dad's 1998 Ranger. My 2003 Ranger didn't have a bed liner but I remember them being molded in the sheetmetal.

Thanks for this idea! Had a great time getting this together today and fits like a glove. :)

I actually used mine for the first time yesterday and then again today. I ran out of propane for the grill and used it to keep the bottle from rolling around everywhere. Then today I ran out to the lake to get my boat all situated and loaded up a 5 gal gas can and some tools and such, using the load divider to keep everything situated. It worked out great!

Nice work here!
I went with the ultra-simple budget version. Went to the local Home Depot and found a 2X6 with a broken end. Had them mark it down 70% as damaged/scrap lumber and got out for under $5. A few cuts later, a little filing on the ends and done. Fit perfect first try. By far my cheapest addition to the truck. Weather is warming up this weekend so I think I'll throw on a coat of epoxy paint.
It does come in handy keeping things in place.

here is my version, a total redneck bed divider, used a screw out tension shower curtain rod that had been in my garage for a few years, screwed it out to fit tight in the slots in the bedliner, covered it in foam rubber pipe insulation and voila! total cost, 10 minutes of my time, had everything i needed laying around here LOL

Many ways to sold a single problem. That's what I like about this forum.

Thinking about adding some kind of a removable extension out onto the tailgate to support the end of a 4 x 8 sheet. Just call it version 2.:)

That shower rod idea is really clever. I'm heading to Lowe's now! Thanks!

Dang it, wish I saw this before I purchased a cargo bar! I have the cargo bar and a Gorilla box in back. It's pretty nice to have some trunk space.

I was looking forever for dividers. I ended up finding a nice piece of 2x10 redwood and had enough to two. Painted them black and they look great. And being redwood, they might outlast the truck!
