Just discovered that Tom Wood's drive line shop is less than 20 minutes from me. Looks like getting a one-piece drive shaft from them is a no-brainer.
I think that you are in for a pleasant experience no matter how it turns out. Tom Wood's drive line shop is a first class operation.

Katskin will no longer sell you seat covers. They now sell a package where you must use a local installer, which has doubled their price.

I've installed them in a Miata years ago. Took a little time but wasn't technically difficult. I called them recently inquiring about a purchase. They would not sell me just the covers. I had to use their installer.
Had a similar recent experience with them. Once they told me "local installer" it was a no-go.

Been giving the seats some more thought and might go a different direction than leather. Since this truck was intended for more off-road use, mainly desert roads and trails, I might just go with more "working man" seat covers, like these from Rough Country that appear to have excellent reviews. At least that's the thought for today.

Honestly I've been bleeding cash on this thing long enough. Just the windshield, Rhino Lining and now a drive shaft have pretty much depleted the rest of the budget for the thing. Time to slow the roll.

Instead of replacing the driveshaft, try lubricating the splines.

Did that fix the issue for you?
It will correct the clunk when you come to a stop. If the spine is dry it will temporarily bind when the diff pivots up or down during (de)acceleration. Lubing the slip joint will not cure shudder, slow speed or high speed. The shudder results from the wobbling occurring in the center bearing. Here is a link to Phil talking about the issue... The short of it is that it is endemic to two piece driveshafts. I had the slow speed shudder, and severe shudder at or above 75mph. I found it unnerving enough that I stayed well below 75 mph. After installing the TW driveshaft I tested it up to 95 ...smooth as silk. I typically go no more than 5mph over the limit. In NC, that is 75mph .

Sounds like correcting the issue is a hit and miss by simply lubing the splines, and the solution more likely to solve the problem permanently is simply to replace the drive shaft. With my tire diameter and gear ratio, critical speed at even 100 MPH is still a few hundred RPM below the recommended limit.

As I noted earlier, I went through about the first 10 pages of the thread dealing with the issue and compared my situation pretty much exactly to the video showing the shaft bouncing at the carrier bearing at takeoff. Shawn gave me a bit of a discount since they won't have to ship it so I'm still going to replace the drive shaft.

Thanks for thinking of me with the seats. It would be a pretty serious drive that I might consider if his offering included the back seat. I wouldn't want to mismatch leather in front and fabric in back. I think for now I'll just leave the stock seats alone. They honestly don't look bad after my cleaning. Not perfect, but good enough for now.
