I made a thing. It's not the best thing, but it will help someone install the RedTek module.

I figured I'd separate this from the group buy thread so it would be easier to find.

*** In the video I said something wasn't working properly. It was a lie, everything worked perfectly once I read the instructions ***

A curved picked works well for the little cover behind the door latch handle.

Ohhh yeah!!! I didn't video the "putting back together" part because reasons.

Whatever, the screwdriver got it LIKE A BOSS! :)

Great Job! You definitely cleared everything up and made it look easy to install.

Thank you for taking the time out of your weekend to put this together for everyone..:beer:

Nice, t4th.

A few thoughts/suggestions:

1. at the door trim removal (3:05), there is a hole/vent on the underside towards the bend. I'd suggest start taking it off from there --- good place to have leverage and any fasteners that pop off will hopefully find its way on the ground instead of somewhere behind the door card.

2. get a yellow plastic trim removal kit from Harbour Freight. It's like $4 with a coupon. :)

3. I position the relay behind the door dampening. Slit a small hole in the dampening to run the wires back up to the automatic door switch assembly. Cleaner install and will not obstruct and/or have a potential to warp your door card over time.
  • I took the wife's yoga mat (i will deal with this later); cut a piece; and duct taped it around the relay (window module). It now is snug fit and will never, ever rattle.
4. The t-taps are future problems. Posi-tap if you can. :)

5. A video of you demonstrating all the working features would be awesome as well.

That said, I'm still out of town and won't get back to my install issues till EOW.

Perhaps when you get back and troubleshoot you can take a few pics or video of YOUR install?

Super cool mod, thanks again @RCMUSTANG.

This video was a big help to me too. I wouldn’t hesitate on my old 97 but not on my new truck without step by step visual instruction.

• Couple of things I did, I used a putty knife on the black goo.
• I also soldered the wires in but posi-taps would be quicker and better than these t-taps.
• To help get the screws back in a magnetic pencil helps get them in the hole.

Going to be awesome dropping the windows in the summer.

No matter how many times i've removed trim and panels off cars, I will never get over the snapping/cracking sounds.

It's like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Was that said with or without a snarky tone? Hard to tell thru text.
:sun: Not at all.. everyone has their own ideas, your placement sounds interesting. I don’t have my truck yet unfortunately so it’d be nice to see everyone’s installations and improvements they made.

I’ll also be using Posi-taps.. Been useing them for many years on things like Amp power steps, retrofit headlight, switchbacks, lightbars etc.. I’m one Posi-tap short so going to have to spring for a 6pc on Amazon.:beer:

I can do the feature vid tomorrow maybe. Thanks for all the suggestions. These are actually decent quality t-taps which sounds like an oxymoron, but that’s why I didn’t even bother changing them.

Other than that, the module is so light I doubt it could warp the door card, especially with the tape I used, it’s more likely to just fall off and rattle around.
