I like it. I am used to the feeling of a stopped engine as we have a Pruius.
Minnesota minds must think alike. Our other vehicle is a Ford Fusion hybrid. Best car I have ever owned. My current thinking is I likely won’t like the ASS and have a night light to disable it.

Once you get used to the auto start/stop it isn't bad.

Come to a stop light press on the brake all the way down and engine shuts off.

Light gets ready to turn green, lift foot off brake slightly engine starts.

Light turns green, press on gas and go.

It's really horrible

Why? The system works very well, and I had no issues with it at all.

When I had the day long Ranger test drive I was not impressed with it. I’ll experiment with it but to me the experience is very different than my hybrid Fusion. With it, I know that when the ICE shuts off I can still accelerate and proceed with only the electric motor. In the Ranger I am screwed if the ICE does not restart. I’ll see how I feel after trying it for awhile.

If climate needs to be maintained, it won't trigger.

Being in sport mode prevents the trigger.

If you never fully stop it won't trigger.

If anything is drawing power on the 110v bus it won't trigger.
Steering wheel turned more than a quarter turn, in gear, brake applied is another condition.
The battery voltage must be above a factory set threshold, so being new, it might be only 99.9999% charged.
If my 2018 Escape sits for more than two days, it won't ASS, but it will still ASS with my iPhone connected via one of the USB ports if it is back up to full charge.

My biggest gripe about the auto stop was that it engages within a second after you stopped. it would be a much better system if it had a several second delay.

It is a little different than the Hybrid.. What I do, when the light just turns green, I slowly lift the breaks and it starts, and when traffic starts moving, then the engine already is running at the time.

AUTO START/STOP system works quite well!!! There was definitely, a period of time getting used to it!!!! The starter design/application/engagement, is one of the smoothest, I have encountered-and being able to control when it activates, by varying the brake petal pressure/height, is a BIG plus!!!!

I think it has made me a better driver because now I watch traffic patterns at the intersection to back off the brake just a smidge and kick the engine over just before it turns green.

I agree.. I pull in the driveway and by the time I put it in park it shuts off and as soon as it gets in park it starts back up..

Spent $10 for an extended Forscan license -- permanent solution, can delete other annoying "features" as well.

Maybe not everyone's path but worked for me.
