Suddenly after a 4+ hour drive, the auto start/stop kicked in. Hadn’t seen it in months, maybe one time since I bought this ‘19 Lariat. Battery must have juiced up perhaps on the drive. Is the electronic setting for this on the driver console just for fun? If you uncheck it, it still keeps start/stopping even in that same trip. If you disable it from the center push button, you have to do that every time after starting? Confused about these functions and how just to disable it. That and the double honk on exit if you have your keys in your pocket (logical spot), annoying!

(?) Electronic Setting on Drivers Console (Uncheck)
I do not have ASS (Deleted from factory)
Whatever this is - it does not disable the ASS

But to answer the main question - The switch on the center console is the only way to disable / enable ASS without a modification to the truck.
Yes, it requires you to press the switch at (EVERY) ignition cycle - To disable it, you can press it anytime the truck is running to turn on/off the ASS.
But at a new ignition cycle, it automatically enables, I have been looking for a Forscan option for this switch (to change it) to not require this. (For those that have ASS)

Most popular ways to disable is the - Auto/Stop Eliminator module or Disable via Forscan or disconnect the BMS sensor at the battery, this in-turn disables the ASS.

Yes - the DBL Honk on Cabin Exit - can be disabled via Forscan, no truck setting available for this.

Thank you! Prob should look into Forscan, it sure seems popular and functional. Perhaps a little dangerous too from some posts

I don't have the sequence handy but Forscan does have the ability to disable ASS.

Otherwise just use 'Sport' mode or plug a Dollar Tree LED night light in the AC outlet in the back if yours is equipped with one.

The auto stop selection on the screen is to disable the engine shutting off automatically after idling for a certain period of time if not driven. It only works for the present engine running event and will reset once the engine is shut off.

I have a 2019 xlt and to disable the stop start function there is a quick disconnect cable on the negative side of the battery, unplug it and away goes the annoying start stop.

check your battery connection. it may have loosened over time and winter. curious to see how many others find their connection loosened a little

I also find that ASS doesn't engage when you have the AC or heat running, but that might be just my impression; I'm assuming that it has something to do with having to keep the fans running, but I have nothing to back this up.
it says in the manuals if you are running a bunch of stuff it will stop auto stopping to save battery

I’ll check it out. That’s the only function of that cable? thanks

Yup, unplugged mine and never had an issue again. When you come to a stop the little auto stop Indictator on the dash will illuminate but doesn't stop the engine. Plug it back in with the engine off and it works like factory again.

No that is not the only function of that cable, just so you are clear - reference all the BMS and battery threads.
