Audio System "Enhanced" Engine Sound and your Subwoofer

Enhanced or real, when I'm flooring it to pass a slow vehicle and traffic is coming the other way my SOTP wants to feel that rumble...uhh hear it anyway.

I’m still not convinced it exists. It seems like if Ford spent the money to put it in they would mention it somewhere in advertising or owner’s manual.

I am keeping a total open mind and am not ruling that out at all. I do still intend to do some "level testing" of the enhancement. I want to know how much we're getting when we're just loping along on the highway with cruise control vs hammering the throttle. If we're not getting much, or none at all while cruising, this may not be an issue. It's not like I ride like a madman all the time. I set the cruise on the way to work and crank the music.

You have to wonder how much the enhanced sound has affected reviews of the truck. One of my favorites is Doug Demuro on YouTube. And in his review, if you turn it up and put on headphones, I believe you can actually hear the enhancement. Was the audio enhancement influencing Doug's opinion of the performance of the truck? We can't rule it out!

My family member who works for Ford was told the Explorer ST, while in Sport Mode, has the added engine sounds.

Trying to find out if the Ranger does as well.

Rangers definitely have this. It can be disabled in the DSP module. You might need to wait for ForScan support to do it without proprietary Ford tools.

You mostly don't hear it on a stock audio system until your foot is close to the floor.

Not with the method I used... proprietary in-house stuff you can’t get on shelves.

FORScan effectively does the same thing for aftermarket support, but that team needs to reverse engineer the addresses first. It takes them a while.

You MIGHT be able to go to the dealer, and have them hook up with the new FDRS system, and reconfigure the DSP module that way. It should technically support that functionality, but it’s a little buggy so far. Although, they’ll probably just give you the deer-in-the-headlights look, most of them don’t know they have the capability.

Here's a small collection of subs people have added and info I have found regarding the subwoofer replacement in the B&O system. From the sounds of it, one would not want to use the factory high-level signal to a new sub since it is heavily tuned by the sync/B&O system such as cutting bass for high volume. The approach looks like using the Zen2 and then RCA to a 5ch or 4ch + sub amps.

Just sent an email to SafeWireless on Amazon to see if they know if their FOR-11CK harness works for the Ranger.

Did you ever find out if the FOR-11CK harness is compatible with the non-B&O Radio?

Never got an answer from Safewireless on Amazon. If they listed a phone number I would call them.

They are on ebay also. I just tried them there, maybe I'm less likely to get ignored there.
