Yea I have it, it’s not worth it.
Wow, and in the thread I linked to I thought it to be a good alternative.

The flat back covers (like the AFE) got a bad analysis if you watch the Gayle Banks video. Likely to cause more harm than good. None of those have a windage tray to control lubricant flow at speed which would make a big difference.

It's a shame Banks has not designed a cover for our transaxles. It would be expensive but the superior replacement.

I think at some point the dollars getting waved in his face by everyone that has the M220 is increasing by it being used in Rangers, Bronco’s and Jeep means there are way over a 100 thousand out there. Bet he could easily sell 500 of them in a blink of an eye.

that’s your opinion.

It is not worth it if you have a pavement pounder/mall crawler
but anyone who spends time on the off road or on fire trails should probably look into one.
the first reason is it has a drain and fill plug. Easy maintenance
the second reason is nothing will put a hole in it.
the third reason is because there is a lot of twisting force on the housing while off roading and this cover is made of nodular iron and is thick so it acts like a truss keeping the ring and pinion contact consistent (no deflection) And strengthening the rear end overall.
so while you think it’s not worth it I have it and love it.
besides it looks bad ass on a race red ranger.
imo

on the other side of the coin the cast aluminum ones may hold more oil which in theory keeps the diff cooler but if you come down on a rock or wood or tree limb and it cracks like an egg And your stuck because all the gear oil is on the ground. Seen it more than once or twice.

take care

Don’t forget to mention the brake lines are free floating now cause the inserts to hold them need the stock screws.
the fill plug has helped me invent new curse words trying to fill it and also trying to get a solid measurement on fluid levels.
it was designed with the wrangler m220 in mind so while it fits, it doesn’t work 100% the way it should.
glad it works for you brotha but I’d still take my spotter over the trust of slamming my diff.

here is mine. I have ocd as I wax it when I wax my wife’s ranger. Been on since 2021 I understand what you’re saying about the brake lines. I’m one of the lucky ones that got a hole in my xj d44 cover and it leaked out over and I ruined the gears and bearings in the rear. Maybe it just my luck.

The Banks videos were my first thought. Here is one:

That's the one. If they made a cover for our specific differential(s) complete with the brake line clamps I'd probably spend the exorbitant amount of money it would cost.

For the moment my wallet is safe(ish).

If I was going to get one, I'd get the Ford Performance unit. Sold by Ford so it ought to be okay.
