Remember that even the Ford Performance Tune is technically still a Aftermarket Tune no matter how you look at it. Being Ford Performance it is considered approved by Ford, but not necessarily approved by Ford Extended warranty. If you read the fine print of the extended warranty then it will tell you if it will cover the powertrain or not with an Aftermarket Tune (yes that means the Ford Performance Tune as well).

Even the Ford Performance Tune states the Factory Powertrain warranty is Downgraded(not to be confused with VOID) to 3/36 instead of the 5/60 going off of the original purchase date of the vehicle(first owner of vehicle).
I already posted this in reply #20, but here is the pertinent point directly from the Ford Extended Warranty of what is not covered.

FPP is the ONLY one approved by Ford, when installed by a certified or authorized tech, so according to the above won't void the warranty. The gray area is when it states, 'will not void you New Vehicle Limited Warranty', which we know is 5/60. My understanding is the 3/36 is for the tuning device, not the vehicle. Trying to get someone to clarify that is like putting socks on a rooster.

Now the dealership or Ford can try to deny it, and the question will be how willing you are to fight for it.

Like many I can tell you don't know the difference between void and downgrade. Void means you have nothing. Downgrade means you at least have something which is better than nothing.

By the way once the tune is installed the warranty is based off the original purchase of the vehicle not the tune.

Because of all that you still maintain a 3-year 36,000 mi powertrain warranty on your truck when you have four performance tune. After that you are considered on your own. That said even with an extended warranty from Ford it is best to read the contract and verify if the extended warranty will cover the truck with the tune installed. Technically speaking even the extended warranty company is an aftermarket company that is contracted through Ford

Not to steal someone else thread, but in the last two weeks my transmission has started hanging up between the 3-4 shift. It use to hardly ever even hit 4th because it would skip it. But now (not always) it goes 4th then it's like it kills the throttle for a second and then it's fine. I have a 21 with just over 40,000 miles and i have the Ford Performance tune. I'm do for an oil change, so I was gonna say something then.

If not mistaken the procal 4 should be able to look up any DTCs that could be stored. Even if the lights not on it would be worth checking. Also I would see what the dealership wants to do because I'm wondering if it might be worth doing a transmission relearn which I think the procal4 can also do.

clearing the system does help short term. makes the transmission do the relearn thing. a dealer did that to mine a couple times. and when i get annoyed enough i flash it with my procal thing.
I've noticed this with mine. I had the valve body overhaul completed and it felt great immediately afterwards...then after a few weeks, I felt some of the quirkiness coming back. It is not as problematic as it was before the overhaul, but like I said, it felt GREAT for a while and then slowly started to feel similar to what it was before the overhaul.

Recently, after shifting from P to R, there was zero response when I hit the gas. I paused for a few seconds in disbelief, verified it was in R and hit the gas again. Nothing again. Zero response. It actually felt like something was holding it back. Then I hit the brakes and grabbed my phone to record video....and it finally responded the 3rd time. Before the overhaul, it would be sluggish to respond occasionally....it would at least move.

My '22 does that same 1/2 shift also but only when the outside temperature is below Zero F. Goes away after a few miles of operation.

Before my rebuild it would leave black marks in my driveway backing out at a gentle (reasonable) speed. Just “catch” and squeal almost every time. Now that my unit is fixed it’s got none of these shenanigans.

I would suggest taking it back to the dealer for a further diagnosis. They may swap or choose to rebuild the whole unit.

And yes, I was waiting for the shift to complete, it would partially engage and then go off with a bang.

I'm definitely going to stay on top of it.....I actually just called to schedule an oil change and also have the dealer's transmission specialist/tech look at it again. They got me in on the 24th. Not too bad. Hopefully they find something.

How much was your rebuild if you don't mind disclosing? And how long did it take?
Mine was fixed under warranty but I would guess a few grand if not.

To all with 10R80 issues: If anyone is “on the fence” have the service writer or foreman drive it and if they see the problem they will likely fix it (excluding any mods, tunes, etc.)

i wish they would fix mine. they were instructed to do one of the earlier tsb procedures on mine and then wash hands of it. and they did lol. still has issues.

My '19 has 87k (plus 6k flat tow) now. With cold weather here (High 30's) by LA standards, slipping is the norm every morning and even after work when the trans is cold. I just plugged my Ford programmer back in so I can start watching the trans temp and tracking it. Trans seems fine when warm.

I know the what the future brings, I'm just hoping to make it to 100k. Plan is to just swap out the trans with a low mileage one off car-part. I can get one for under $2k, and install it myself. Then I'll rebuild the current with the updated correct drum and hopefully be rid of the issue for the rest of the trucks life.

I took my truck out after letting it sit for a week in an unheated garage. Temps dipped to low 20's at night, but warmed to the low 40's in daylight.

Started the truck, and proceeded out the driveway. Going slow, not over 30mph and heard some unfamiliar noises coming from "down under".

I stopped the truck, then proceeded very slowly watching the transmission shift through the gears. I could clearly hear each shift solenoid engage and each one took a second or two to do so as the transmission progressed through the gears. A second or so after each solenoid did its thing the transmission would shift to the next gear. This is new to me... and concerning.

Once the truck warmed up all was fine. Has anyone else noticed this behavior when cold?

I also heard the dreaded HVAC door solenoid ticking on the drivers side for 20 seconds or so when I turned up the heat. This on a 2020 Ranger with 20,200 miles on it.

Wife looked over at me, and said it's time to sell this thing! "Don't make me tell you I told you so..."

Sigh.... she may be right!

Mine did something similar this morning. When shifting from 1st to 2nd it basically went into neutral and was free revving. Let off the gas and it finally went back into gear. Bone stock 22 with 26000km. Love the truck, but the transmission is quirky to say the least.
