LOL... how I know the feeling... I've had both hips replaced... what will go through your mind afterwords is: Why did I wait so long???So earlier today I ordered a set of those AMP Research power steps for the Ranger.
I had them on a lifted GMC 1/2 Ton and it was a game changer for my wife (5' - 100lbs), getting into and out of the cab. I like the way the steps deploy, landing about 1/2 way between the ground and the cab, so when you step up, you land square in the seat with no major head duck or drag across the bolster. I also like the tucked up out of the way look they have when the doors are closed.
Clearly my stock FX4 is not as high as that lifted GMC truck, but a hip issue I have now has me lifting my leg with an arm to help me get into the cab. I have a hip replacement surgery scheduled in 3 weeks and my ingress and egress is going to be super challenged without any step assistance after that is done, so I decided I would install them before the operation. After I have fully recovered from the surgery, I plan to add the Fox 2.0 FPT dampers and level, perhaps the Tremor leaf springs as well, so having the steps after all that will be even better.
If I can remember to take some shots while installing the steps I will and in any case will do a photoshoot after to be posted on how they look and operate once I get them on the truck.
Pretty much everyone I know that has had a hip replaced says that same thing.LOL... how I know the feeling... I've had both hips replaced... what will go through your mind afterwords is: Why did I wait so long???
And, 3 weeks ago, I have the Amp Research steps installed on my 2019 Ranger SC. Really nice. Only think is, when they re-track, there is quite a thunk... no soft landing.
I asked other users here on the forum if that was "normal" and the answer was yes.
After I had them installed, I had the outs side painted matching body color... They blend right in now.
I've installed mine before Xmas last year and I do have the distinct "thunk" when it closes on the driver side only. The passenger side seems quieter. I've adjust and lubricated but with no luck. I've just learned to live with it I guess.LOL... how I know the feeling... I've had both hips replaced... what will go through your mind afterwords is: Why did I wait so long???

I cancelled the original order as I kept getting emails delaying the expected delivery date.Bill did you ever get yours installed?
I have Tyger stationary running boards on my truck, but keep thinking I'd like to have the AMP steps...but DANG, they are pricey.I cancelled the original order as I kept getting emails delaying the expected delivery date.
I could see that big box sitting on the porch for a month while my new hip healed.
I reordered it from Realtruck as soon as I could see I was going to be healing pretty quickly and am back in the every few weeks delayed shipping email game.
I suspect AMP is experiencing the same kind of too many orders and too few chips thing the motor companies are dealing with.
It will get here someday.![]()

Maybe someday I can find a way to justify that kind of expense. But I"m not betting on it.
I hope you get yours soon as I can see it benefitting you immensely.
Hang tough on your rehab!
I can tell you from personal experience that it is much easier getting into and out of my 2020 Ranger than my 2005 Ranger, and that it has everything to do with the AMP steps. Both 4x4s, but the 2005 is much lower to the ground.I have Tyger stationary running boards on my truck, but keep thinking I'd like to have the AMP steps...but DANG, they are pricey.
