Thanks Dan
I did it with Krzysztof's method - was missing the top 2 screws on the back side of the strg wheel.

Well - All is installed - and recognized by FORScan. The CCM has my VIN and all the other settings are set as you did. But no joy - a few DTC errors and of course I need to calibrate the CCM.
Tried to calibrate using FORScan, but it never finished. I may need a longer stretch of straight road w/o stop lights. Will try on my way to work tomorrow.
I am hoping after the calibration is done all the codes will clear ?

Both steering wheel button swap out methods have their merits. I'm a tech so it's second nature to me to just pop the wheel off.

If I remember correctly, the more roadside obstacles the better when calibrating.
It's looking for stuff. :) Or maybe I have it backwards - remembering is hard!

What codes have set?

Fun fact: if you drive a lot in the desert and the ACC sensor never sees any obstructions after a long time, it will disable ACC and say that the sensor is dirty.

Well NC highways have trees and of course traffic!
I will post the error codes tomorrow

No Luck with hwy calibration - doesn't seem to even start.
I am using posi-taps to tie into the can bus and pwr. They might not be appropriate for the Can bus so tonight I will solder those lines.
And will start looking for a used CCM, haven't been junk yard hunting since I left TX 15yrs ago!

Modules I have DTC errors on are
  1. C-CM
  2. ABS
  3. IPC
  4. IPMA
Most are invalid configuration, plus CCM calibration. The IPMA had something that sounded like it could be related to a bad can bus connection so that's why I plan to solder that link.
Update - duh be sure to clear the DTC errors when done changing everything!

Save yourself the anguish of lost screws and just pull the steering wheel.

The air bag pops off, there's 2 holes on the side/backside. A small flat blade screwdriver pushes the locking tabs in from the side. I know the pic I found has a phillips.
First one is tough, after that, it's easy peezy. I'd bet there's a YouTube video poking around.
Found one:

Pop the air bag connector retainers out of each of the air bags and the connectors just come out. Don't forget to put the CPA (assurance clips) back in!

I believe it's a TX50 in the center bolt - just put a drop of Loctite on when you reinstall it.
(It's actually a special Torx with wider splines)

Flip the steering wheel over on the bench on a towel and you'll find the silver Torx screws on the back I think there's 6 of them, size TX20. There's 2 that don't need to be removed - if you look, those 2 go into the wheel's frame and can stay in.
The plastic trim piece is tight so you have to wiggle it a little and it will come off with a pop.

Once the trim is off, you'll see how to remove the switch.
The plastic top frame has clips on the sides. I believe the clips are on the frame, push on the sides of the steering wheel piece and a slight pull to release. I should have taken pics.

What is your ABS settings?

You just change the 1 coding

760-03-01 000#

if you had a 4 (you e-locker, you change this to a 6)
if you had a 5 (you have an e-locker, you change this to a 7).

Forscan will calculate the Checksum for you... for those that didn't know.

I did disconnect my battery when I was done, I also ran the self check code on the CCM to make sure my wiring was happy.

ABS is set up for e-locker. I changed it back to 5 and still had errors, now back at 7
yup on the checksums

I may try a battery disconnect
Where/how did you run the self check code on the CCM?

There is that option within Forscan, I think it's the 2nd icon on the left... It says something about running proceedures (Sorry this is from memory). Click it and you should see your CCM and you can run that test.

I had 1 issue with my IPMA and a camera error. My coding somehow was off, I had to grab my as-built and fix it. Cleared my DTC's and it was all happy. I had been using a cheap adapter with the switch on it. The new $59 cable is SO much easier.

I did a module reset of the CCM and the IPMA in service functions.
As you said, this might be a lack of programming of the new CCM with what Ford calls PMI.

Mike, I sent you a PM. I can set that new module up for you with the Ford IDS.

Having a new module seems to be the caveat for not having an 'easy' install.

OK - My memory is crap
First off, I thought I had cleared all the DTCs. I didnt!
After doing that only errors were CCM.
Then I had taken a short cut adding my VIN. I used Easy Mode. Well it took my VIN w/o issue, but the second option you see below, Vehicle Type, wasn't even there! One of you guys got me thinking that I should check my VIN in hex as I had remembered something about the 1st 2 digits being significant. Sure enough mine where 00. I changed it to 24 and BINGO, as below
Now to try calibrating again after dinner

UPDATE
SUCCESS!!!!
Well mostly :-/
I was able to calibrate and now hove no errors!!
I have cruise control, but the adaptive / distance part is not showing up.
I alos noticed in testing that I dont have the crash warning pop up like I used to - its just a little icon at the bottom of the dash cluster (actully better as its not as annoying). Maybe APIM related

I think you can go to easy mode and enable Adaptive cruise menu in the IPC. I think I had to do that manually. That was 3 days ago, it's all a blur.

You also have to go into the IPC Driver Assist menu with the steering wheel buttons and change the cruise type to adaptive.

Crash warning is also an end user setting in Driver Assist.

I figured it was something IPC related. I knew I had to enble it in the Driver assist menu - but cruise doesn't show up.
Let me go try Easy Mode!

THAT DID THE TRICK - should have done a screen grab.
IPC Easy Mode - search on cruise and enable the 1st 2.

Adaptive working now with the correct IPC display of following distance?

I have the crash distance thingy on right now, but I'm guessing the new toy thrill will wear off and I'll return to the full truck icon.

Too late to test drive. I did get the ACC icon when I turned Cruise on.

Lol I did the same with the crash distance
