Hello everyone

Yesterday when I started my truck I noticed there was a pretty big puddle of water. I touched the water and it was mostly clear. It had a very very slight smell like radiator or water that has been sitting...I guess similar to AC smell.

After the truck was running it stopped. No check engine lights, no coolant leaks, no smell or anything. I drove for awhile and I stopped, no leaks. Once I started the truck again after a couple hours is leaked more. Again, no check engine lights or anything, truck is running fine.

For context, it has been really hot in LA, CA (95 degrees for a couple weeks) and I was running the AC all day as I did alot of driving. (LA to LB to OC back to LA)

I haven't seen a vehicle drip a lot of water because of an AC before. The water seems to be dripping toward the back of the block or by the firewall.

Any thoughts? I am going to big bear this weekend so I need to figure this out asap.

*First picture is where is looks like its coming from to get an idea (Not my picture)

Thanks

Yeah that is normal for sure. AC Systems will generate this thing called Condensation, especially when it's very hot and humid out. As long as the AC is working normally and the vehicle isn't overheating then you should be fine.

Also if you don’t use recirulation then it will produce more moisture dropping on the ground. AC units are also a very good dehumidifier resulting in excess moisture being released outside of the vehicle. I live in OC CA. Really nothing to worry about..

Totally normal. I’m in Palm Springs and often have a condensation puddle under the Ranger. :) It was 121 here.

Every car has a puddle like this in my garage after a drive in the summer. Normal.
