Driving behavior and highway speed means a ton, but the fact the ranger doesn’t beat this is the biggest travesty. That’s supposed to be a huge selling point of the midsize truck.
No, not really. The ranger isn't tremendously smaller or lighter than an F150, so why would it get tremendously better mileage? You should see a little bit better MPG in the city, but the on the highway they're basically the same. (Ford has spent one heck of a lot more $$$ optimizing the F150 for CAFE reasons.) The reason to buy a midsize is that it's enough smaller to fit better into parking spots or normal garages, and is less of a road hog.

yeah pretty much that point about optimizing the f150. Its crazy how much tech and other stuff they threw into it to squeeze every little bit of mpg out, body style and all.
I barely hear wind noise in the f150 compared to the ranger, mileage is damn near close as well even tho i have 35s, and weigh 1000lbs more.

However, credit to the ranger even with bigger tires/lift compared to modded tacos, those guys get ass for mpg as soon as they do anything.

Huge plus. Fits in half of the garage with space left over.

Edit: And while not the point of the thread, which size would you rather drive off road? For me the Ranger is a no brainer there too.
