No, not really. The ranger isn't tremendously smaller or lighter than an F150, so why would it get tremendously better mileage? You should see a little bit better MPG in the city, but the on the highway they're basically the same. (Ford has spent one heck of a lot more $$$ optimizing the F150 for CAFE reasons.) The reason to buy a midsize is that it's enough smaller to fit better into parking spots or normal garages, and is less of a road hog.Driving behavior and highway speed means a ton, but the fact the ranger doesn’t beat this is the biggest travesty. That’s supposed to be a huge selling point of the midsize truck.
