This, or they have no idea that it is abnormal. I mean a lot of folks think a 10K mile oil change on a DI Turbo engine in a truck is okay, so...
Or they are old enough to remember how transmissions were in the 70's and 80's and think this is an improvement.

My driveway has a hill (about 15 degrees) and my '22 bucks and jerks going up it like its so confused about which gear it should be in. In reality, I believe the bucking and jerking is the torque converter locking and unlocking. The jerking is like the trans wants to rip out of the truck.

There's no way this is considered normal. However, if I bring it in to a dealer, they will not be able to replicate the problem and will just tell me "its normal" and that its part of the quirks of that trans. Fortunately, I have the 75k mile PremiumCare so its covered but still I hate the way the trans acts.

If I did want the dealer to apply some TSB or something, what number would I have them reference? I've read a little bit about having them apply a new shift strategy but if I walk in there with no real info, they will just shoo me away.
I made the same assumption you did, that they wouldn't find anything and/or couldn't replicate the issue. I've been down that road with Ford for a different issue. However, I was shocked as they seemed to find something immediately. I simply wanted to document my concerns in my service history in case the issue continued to worsen and I had to fight them in the future. Besides, I'm 32K miles into a 75K warranty, and I've only had it 15 months....so I didn't want to wait to say something, and the issues DEFINITELY seemed to worsen between 20-25k miles.

If nothing else, when you schedule your next oil change, ask them if they have a transmission specialist and you'd like to have your transmission inspected when you get it serviced. Reference TSB 22-2248 and TSB 23-2250. They are on the first page of this thread. If they seem to shoo you off or dismiss you in any way, make sure you mention that in your Ford survey and go to another dealer. There are clearly issues with these transmissions...well documented by Ford at this point. If they shoo you off, they simply don't want the hassle of bickering with Ford over the warranty work and/or they're understaffed and the transmission guy is probably booked for weeks/months.

Should be 23-2250 I believe, and I would get a video of it on the driveway so you can show them proof

Whats the word on these TSB's actually fixing the problems?

Edit: @Jason B Yep when I experience the jerking in the driveway, I had eliminated all the gears but first. What I usually have to do is stop at the beginning of my driveway, let the trans settle, then put in tow mode and drive up slowly. At the crest of the hill, jerking as usual.

The only other issue I have with the trans is of course it shifts into too high a gear too early, causing lugging and occasionally it'll jerk while randomly driving. Pretty sure this is again the torque converter doing its thing.

For me it did, the new CDF drum design and reflash has worked great, on and off road. Make sure they actually go through the process, because simply the reflash can be insufficient.

damn that would be annoying af! id for sure take it in if you can! i think dealers are starting to figure out this transmissions are problematic since it didnt take much convincing to have them tear into my truck and they were also concerned with it being broken

not much of an UPDATE:

Customer service rep from the dealer called me yesterday. She called me to schedule, but she didn't know what it was being scheduled for....she said Steven told her to call me, whoever and whatever that means....lol.

I told her I was waiting for parts for transmission work, and I was told they'd call me to schedule when all the parts were in so I told her that was my guess as to what she needed me for. After some confusion, she scheduled me for 10/20 at 8 am. Then she called back like 3 hours later and changed it to 10/26.

So I guess they have the parts and are ready to "overhaul" it. I'll update again on the 26th. I'm supposed to get a loaner also.

So reading through this thread I figure I'll hop on. I have a '22 that's about a year and 9 months old now with 15k miles. I've had a few hard shifts, typically hardest on a downshift when decelerating or when shifting from 3rd to 5th. I'm going in for an oil change tomorrow and I figure I'll ask tto talk to someone about these issues. Hopefully it's an easy-ish process being lower than 20k miles.

Be very specific and mention the TSB's. Also, ask if they have a transmission specialist who can inspect it.

If you are lucky and have a great dealer, they will take a look right away. But like most here, the dealer will tell you to leave it with them and they will take a look when time permits, usually 2 - 3 weeks.

I may be old but I drive without a phone in my hand and my eyes on the road.
Nobody honks at me at light changes because I am too busy to notice the light is green.
How do you reply when someone calls you a 'boomer'?
Okay "renter".
