My truck drove fine to and from work today, parked it in garage. Realized I left something in the truck, so I went back out to it - it would not respond to the keyfob at all. I wondered if the fob's battery died.
I got into the truck with the manual key - tried starting it with the key, and nothing, no chime, no lights, nothing on the screen, no crank, the truck was completely dead. I went back out less than 10 minutes later. As soon as I opened the door, everything lit up light normal, except for a warning to start it with the key, or else the alarm would go off. It started perfectly fine, no setting were lost, and it immediately synced to my phone.
I used a multimeter to check the battery, 14.95 volts when running. With key off, after several minutes, it ranged 12.5 to 12.3 to 12.38 volts. I'm giving it an hour to see how it does.
The battery is just over 2 years old, a Die Hard from advance auto. The last time the 12V was bad, I at least got the dash to light up, and it just had the lights get dim when it tried to crank.
I'm wondering if this was an issue due to an Over-the-air update? A google search mentions things like loose battery terminals, run-start relay corrosion, or battery management system issues.
Is this a common issue? I did a quick search on this forum and didn't immediately see something similar.
Thanks!
