Oil cooled turbos will burn a little oil. That is normal for all of my ecoboosts I've owned.

But the Ecoboost turbochargers use the oil for lubrication and coolant for cooling

Unheard of but not impossible. Take it in.

Seriously, could be anything, could be nothing. Warranty that bitch if you have to.

Absolutely take it in and register your observation. They will tell you everything is fine (which it almost certainly is), but just in case, you have it documented.

As far as the oil burn, frankly I would be most concerned about that because mine doesn't add (a lot of short trips) and doesn't subtract anything measurable between oil changes. I live at 2800' and travel a few times a week into the 5-6K' altitude range.

So tell them about that too (which they will tell you is totally normal), but you will have it in the computer.

one question how often do you change your oil ?
I change it whenever the oil life monitor gets below 30%. That gives me a nice 3,000 mile buffer if I need to go to somewhere far, like Texas or Colorado.

Here is the Blackstone report from my original oil change, I am still running the first Amsoil fill I did and have yet to get under 30% OLM. Should I change it before 16k?

I am also concerned that my 2.3 EcoBoost appears to be shearing the oil. That is some thin oil (unless the factory filled it with 5W-20 by accident)

they still will burn some oil off I came from the SHO platform had some there also thus the 5k oil changes also we found on the SHO that use the factory oil filter and pennzoil platum work the best.

You have to do filter at 5k? I been doing it whenever the oil is changed, and Blackstone seems to think the filter can go another 2,500 more…

been a lot of different stories about oil changing in our trucks, I been following the heavy duty service for mine.....

had a 2013 SHO before the Ranger, the Pennzoil platinum with a factory filter had been golden on The Sho platform...... Seen motors clean as new with that oil and also the carbon build up is not bad at all. Seen testing on the Pennzoil and it rates right on top...... So i rather do the 5k oil and filter and rotate tires at the same time......... got close to 60 k on my 2020 so far all is good ...

What Amsoil are you using? OE, XL, or signature, and are you using an Amsoil Filter?

Talk about a run-on sentence.
