To try and put everyone to ease out there in 10R80 land....I'm working on 102K miles now on my 19' Ranger with no real tranny issues....let me give you a chronology of my life with the Ranger so far...lol.

BTW....I have had the "bump" in the tranny everyone talks about, more than a couple of times.....

So I made all of my modifications right around 25K to 30K miles a couple of years ago.....(you can look at my profile....nothing warranty killing).
I went the speed route with a level kit.....no off-road tires, just street performance. At 30K I started running my truck locally on Friday and Saturday nights...looking to burn some rubber with whoever was in for the taking. Believe me when I say I have pushed my 10R80 to the limit and past that more than a couple of times I am not kidding. With a high performance tune and street tires this thing will pop the rear-end sideways at 3rd gear with ease, come back in line a goooo! I can get a 4th gear chirp when conditions are right (mainly ambient air temp). You folks that do not have tuned Rangers have absolutely no idea how much more power you can harness with these engines....So anyway, I have toned it WAY down these days with my truck, but I guarantee you I spend the better part of 60K abusing the crap out of my setup and she still purrs down the road with no problems. I would think that if a 10R80 was going to come apart it would be mine for sure! I am running a softer shift tune now and I sure don't run her like I used too. I had the tranny service at 57K with fluid and filter change and will do it again in the very near future.
Good to hear Mark. I drive hard too but not like that. :D:D

I have this silly theory about giving those valve bodies a very hard workout when they are young makes them run smoother.....sounds crazy, with the issues out there, I can't believe mine has been so trouble-free. Now it could crater tomorrow, but that goes for anything. I've never had any issues with fuel in the oil or my tranny. I must have picked up a good one by chance....

It would take some research, but how many 10R80 are out there in the many makes of Ford vehicles? And what percentage are problematic? I just think it's as big of an issue as people think it is. ISAIK, hard shifting is an inconvenience, not really a problem.

Probably paid some employee $20 for them to process, print and mail that check...so you can spend $5 gas to go to bank and waste an hour of your life...lol

Give them time. If they get their way and go electronic banking the check would be for .005 of a cent!

Mine only shifts oddly when it's in the 'S'hit mode. I think the S should be changed to a ? because you never know what your going to get. "S"hit mode holds the revs way too much under light or no throttle, downshifts are even worse and doesn't seem to go past 6th gear. Throttle response is better, but not enough to make me use it. So I just plain old 'D' and it works find.
