Base model with no cruise

Did anybody else get a bottom of the barrel base model like me? I love the simplicity of this truck and actually really like the stereo and gauge displays. I wouldn’t mind having cruise control but I wouldn’t use it much anyway

We bought an XL, but with the FX4 package. That gives you cruise, rear diff lock and the upgraded information display in the instrument cluster. I use cruise control a lot... it pays for itself by preventing speeding tickets.

We drove a couple 4x4 XL's that had the standard display... and that dot matrix readout between the tach / speedometer reminded me of a Radio Shack TRS80 screen from the early 1980's.

It's pretty cool that you can avoid a bunch of the technology by getting an XL, but add a package that upgrades the items you want.

Ya I mean it totally makes sense to pay for what you want. I was already stretching my luck when I brought up to the wife buying a new truck so I am happy as well that they offer a base model without sacrificing engine and drivetrain.

Honestly love the little display the XL has, not a huge fan of the fancy models displays. They’re a bit distracting to me. I still think Ford knocked it out of the park with this truck!

I've never had a vehicle with Adaptive cruise control before and I have to say, it is a killer feature. One of my favorites on the truck. I'm glad I got it.

And that's what makes the Ranger a great truck. I truly hate Adaptive Cruise Control...

You like it, you paid for it, I hate and I didn't.

I'll agree, it is a killer feature... it kills gas mileage.

I do like the fact Ford gives you one truck and you pick your flavor of what you want - but at the end of the day an XL and Lariat will perform similar to each other. You don't have to get extra stuff to get the better engine, etc.

I do love adaptive cruise on my wife's Atlas - but didn't get it on my truck cause I didn't like $800 worth.

My first Ranger ('03) was the absolutely most basic model available. No cruise control, a/c, not even a tape deck! This time around I again got an XL, but decided right away I would splurge to get 101a for the cruise control and other niceties. Also got 4x4 because discounts made the price right, and chrome package because it was included on the truck that checked all my other boxes.

And it doesn't seem so odd this time that it doesn't have a tape deck!

My other half thinks adaptive cruise is better than sliced bread. However, we live in the DC area and no matter what you set cruise on, the cars in front of us are going between 0 and 20mph. Drives me and the truck crazy.

I'm with you, found mine in stock was a special order, I assume someone changed there mind. XL, STX, FX. Tow package, 101A. Running boards & a keyless entry which I was not really interested in so those were not even figured in. Who needs more than that.

It only works > 15 MPH or something like that - some people wanted it to be a "rush hour cruise control". Seems weird to me to have a CC that works in stop and go traffic. I just like it so I don't have to continually adjust my cruise when I'm behind slower drivers. On one trip, I drove all the way back from the beach with it on - I didn't even have to use the brake around corners since the person ahead of me was slowing down, so the AC slowed down. It was pretty cool. All I had to do was steer - gave my right foot a break!

This is my first vehicle with Adaptive Cruise and it is a good feature. I have learned to set it on the shortest distance setting or else you slow down every time someone pulls in front of you.

And you probably didn't "really" need to steer, as you have Lane Assist, right?! That feature cracks me up every time I drive. On a straight road, I'll give the steering wheel a nudge to one side and let the truck bounce back and forth like a bowling ball on a lane with bumpers.

Funny because I love every feature on my truck except the ACC,actually I very rarely use cruise control. I really love all the sensors BLISS and lane assist features but wish the ACC wasn't there because I want to add a light bar and it's in the way. I know they have a bracket that relocates it but then that's another $100.

My wife's Atlas has the ACC that works in rush hour and I have used it a couple times for rush hour - it takes some time to get use to not having to be in control and with lane assist you can read the newspaper but for road trips (which we will take her car on the majority of the trips) I really do like it a lot.
