Fan sensor Bundle Support

So I’ve been laid up for several weeks after having my ankle rebuilt. Old injury that finally wouldn’t respond to simple therapy
That said I haven’t run the truck in 3 weeks or so and wouldn’t start with the heron. Put a jump box on battery and got things going.
While dealing with that, I discovered the support tubing for the Fan Sensor wire bundle was toast. Good news was the wire bundle was untouched but the remnants of the tubing just crumbled. I took a couple of wire ties and secured the bundle and now look diff recommendations to replace tubing. If fact is the support really needed

Yes, it is needed. The rotational force of the fan clutch is being held back by the wiring instead of the hose. It would be wise to replace it before the wiring to the fan clutch gets torn apart.

I did a redneck DIY repair on mine and the wife’s trucks with zip ties… Ugly but it works lol

There is an unused bolt hole where the engine cover bolts to that would make an excellent mount if somebody could 3D print some kind of support...

It would need to be made out of something flexible to allow for some runout of the fan clutch assembly. The support should also run fairly parallel (not perpendicular) to the direction of rotation of the fan.

I know nothing of 3D printing , but the stuff I have seen looks fairly flexible...

very interesting- all the comments and different approaches to this fan problem. Thought I would give it a try on my R5g. My hose is still in perfect condition but I do not want to wait and see what happens, here is my fix, as always when re-engineering something it is MOST important to not make it worse, when it fails. I will be attaching the hose wire and cable together to keep anyone of them from getting into the fan pulley or any other potential issue. Good, bad or ??

My hose is still in perfect condition but I do not want to wait and see what happens, here is my fix, as always when re-engineering something it is MOST important to not make it worse, when it fails. Just an observation- but you do understand that the fan clutch - spins clockwise -As sitting in the drivers seat

The nipple end of the hose is not being pulled upon- it’s being pushed against

So yes you have protection for CCW but not CW and I am (THINKING) that the CW rotation is the initial drop down, then the harness / hose catches and (springs back) CCW - as if I recall all pics of the broken hose show it - offset CCW.
I could be wrong here and the sensor could be simply just dropping down CCW, since we do not have any (at time of failure) video (it actually happening) its hard to know for 100% sure and I am only using the actual direction of the rotation as a guide

The fan spins counter-clockwise sitting in the driver's seat, so the clutch rotation will be pulling against his cable anti-rotation device.

Sometimes you get caught up in things and not see the obvious- as I have always said on here - I will admit when I am wrong.
So please disregard- my incorrect post, I’d swear we determined that it was the opposite.

It’s one of those things you never really look at - it spins / it cranks - it starts - I recall we have had this discussion before and I am as ashamed at myself for not catching my mistake for a simple operation.
And now I have to go back to school- and learn the basics- Left - Right - CW - CCW
