So my ESP warranty expires in July and even though my transmission has had very few neutral out/neutral flare shifts it does downshift harshly when coming to a stop.

Last week I called the dealer where I purchased it to get an appointment and they said the transmission shop was busy until May 5th so I brought it in yesterday. Service advisor wrote all my symptoms down but said they would have to do the KAM reset first. I asked if they could go straight to the pressure check but she wouldn't commit. I told her I know it would fail, not really knowing, but from the history of the 10R80 odds were that it would.

Today, I kept checking the Ford Pass app and truck didn't move, then finally this afternoon a 10 mile drive and it was in the shop. Just got a call from the service advisor that the Ranger failed the TSB pressure test and they submitted the info to Ford. Should hear in the morning the next steps.

Honestly, I waited until the ESP warranty was near the end and glad it failed before my ESP ran out.

To be continued...

That's awesome (well not that it failed) but that it failed within the ESP warranty! If it were me it would've failed 6 months AFTER it ended. lol

Now, go buy a lottery ticket and throw us all a party with your winnings. 😁

I only bought the ESP due to the HVAC and transmission issues learned about on this forum. :like:

That is why I was pro-active and was willing to have the TSB done. Even though the symptoms weren't severe it would have failed eventually and be on my dime.

Hmmm, might have to buy that lottery ticket.

I bought the ESP on both of my Rangers 10/100K. I figured why not as I could write it off for business and I was planning on keeping this one for a while. The good thing is if you sell it (or total it lol) they'll give you the pro rated amount back.

Like mine did! That is why no one ever says, “Ah the luck of the Polish me boy!”

One advantage of the business owning the vehicle. Mine did as well.

Nice getting it for $50 over cost at Granger too.

Way to squeak it in under the wire Steve.
As quirky as the 10R80 is I got used to its characteristics but knew it would fail so stretched it to the 3rd period for us hockey fans.

Mine’s fine so far but I’m keeping a close eye on options as the trade deadline approaches.

Read the fine print on the SCOP (SuperCab Owners Promise) you think you can just walk away? And let just anybody end up with it ?

You’re right - no straight trades, they’ll have to buy out the contract.

I'm pretty sure my ESP ended 2 days ago (I need to check). That means next week my transmission will explode all over the road.
I hope not John.

If it didn't expire might be worth a diagnostic fee to get the TSB done.

Picked up the truck this morning and the short bit I drove the shifts seem much smoother. Will be interesting to see how it really is going to run after the adaptive learning cycle.

@Stevedbvik1 before you ask here is the part list. And no they didn't replace the valve body.
