10k oil changes, majority stop and go city driving and idling for long periods. My oil samples come back fine. I'm at 120k and so far no engine issues. I don't drive it like I stole it but I also don't putt putt around.

Yes I use "scamsoil" signature series. I've had satisfying results from the 4 vehicles I've used it on. I don't fanboy it and make people feel like they have to get it. I see no reason to change because it's working for me.

Do what makes you feel comfortable but longer intervals aren't killing engines. Improper intervals for your situation and using the wrong oil, will kill it.

Hello all,

I read somewhere that Ford recommends changing the filter screen in the oil line delivering oil to
the turbo's at 30.000 miles??
Has anyone else seen this or heard of this or has done this procedure?
Just trying to learn more about it.

Thanks

My opinion only: good preventive and predictive maintenance. It would make some sense to take it out, soak it in carb cleaner for 1/2 hr. Use a couple pipe cleaners with solvent on them to run through the tube. Then clean the screen and reinstall HOWZ DAT?.

You can get away with long intervals with high quality synthetics, but like I said, there is only 3 of them on the market. I know the oil that I use may go longer but it won't hold up for a year. I pushed it to 5K and 9 months, and I could feel it breaking down at 4K and 7 months. That is my experience using Pennzoil Platinum Ultra 5w30.

But first remove the damper to put on the replacement.
WAIT....WHAT......now your saying the damper has a filter and you need to take the damper off to install a damper filter ??????????o_O
I have 6 dampers on my Expedition and now I have to go see if they each have a filter that needs changing.....
Thanks A Whole Bunch !!!!!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Simple....member asked how TJC could "feel" his oil breaking down......
When your oil breaks down, everything starts to go to hell........
Its a joke, a little levity.....its Sunday afternoon and I'm stuck here.....
Also, the Expedition Forum is verrrrrry BORING !!!!!!!!

I think you'll be ok if you wipe the damper shafts down with 303 as part of your daily maintenance.

It would be a very subtle engine vibration mostly felt at idle - oil breakdown = higher friction. I believe this is what TJC is describing.

On paper it does not look bad, I would need to actually look at it.
The manuals do call out removing the return tube first for easier access, this can and will most likely create issues for some - due to the way it mounts (surface mount-seal)
So, if one were to replace the supply filter, attempt to bypass removing the return line as it may provide a leak issue.

I am curious what a filter looks like with say 75k to 100k miles on it - this may reveal if this filter actually builds up debris as this is a - Secondary Filter
