He claims it's because it has smoother more gradual acceleration or something like that.
My belief is along those lines, in that the electronics in the machine apply throttle more efficiently and do not overshoot the amount of pedal effort required or applied by our foot. Or I could just be full of 💩💩😁.

I really don't like ACC
I really don't like people racing up behind me then slowing to my speed and just sitting there when they could easily pass.
I get to show that hate for both by slowly slowing down when the ACC guy gets behind me. It's a game. Best so far was 76 MPH down to 57 MPH. Then they woke up and went around.
Was that you?🤣
Pull that cap on me and you'll get run off the road. I don't play games and am very quick to become the aggressor. However that said I always pass as soon SAFELY possible. But if you'd played games with me as soon as I pass, I lock up brakes. You are an A$$hole and I'll tell you to your face!

You sound like a coworker of mine.

I have learned to like the ACC and keep the spacing set at max, which is approximately 4 seconds. Im ok with my mpg...23/24 ish combined (4X4), and I figure that's gonna be about my max for around here.

As an added note, one of the things I learned early as a trucker is to not screw with people on the road, even if I feel they've been messing with me in some fashion. Ive said many bad things about many asshat drivers over the years, but never managed to hit any of them or have to have any kind of face to face confrontations. Patience in the face of foolish behavior is indeed important.
Just sayin.

Very true and well said Chris. Patience being the key word.

There's a member over on the 6G forum that uses ACC in traffic, letting it do all the start and stop, without touching the pedals. Claims it gets him better MPG.
I have tried that with the Ranger... stops OK but does not seem to start up as well. Of course mine is a 2019 so the newer 6G may well have improved on that. My wife's Volvo (2018) does all that very well.

I will admit to being adverse to doing that even if the truck had the capability. Hard enough to have learned to use the adaptive cruise!

Like I say, I have tried it... just to see if/how it worked. Trying is now done... no go for me. Open road, fine; in close traffic, no thanks.

They (the 6G) must have the ACC with Stop and Go which we don't have. Personally I wouldn't use it or trust it in traffic.

One thing I've noticed more is that the testicla drivers do not use brakes, relying on immediate coast stop of motors to slow faster to try for a rear ending crash that they can get permanent medical disability to help pay for their basement 'apartment' :inspect:

I despise it and it causes more traffic. Its so obvious in action. Instead of paying attention and merging left to pass these people just sit behind semis. Then blow my doors off 5 minutes later. I am glad I do not have it and disable it whenever I drive my wifes car. Its a machine we tell what to do, not the other way around.

then again most people dont like driving like I do.

You run people off the road when you don't like that they can't maintain a speed? How would you know that somebody was doing this to you? Especially since you are paying so little attention to your own driving that you simply didn't use the left lane and go around the car that was driving slower than you?
But okay. I have dash cams and full coverage insurance. You do you..
