FORD SUCKS PERIOD!
I seemed to have gotten a Tuesday through Thursday truck cause my 2021 Ranger just turned 150,000 miles and the one and only issue at 148,000 was a growling drive shaft center support bearing for which I had Ford install a new OEM driveshaft. But it has had every service they recommend and goes in every 5000 miles for whatever it needs.
On the other hand, I bought a fully loaded beautiful cobalt blue four wheel drive Tacoma in 1995 and it was the biggest rolling piece of garbage I’ve ever sat in. I ended up taking a $4000 loss in about 12,000 miles to get rid of that POS.
So they all make garbage from time to time, some less than others.

That's a little harsh.
I will never buy an extended warranty. The risks do not outweigh the costs. If you can't afford a significant repair, then maybe the warranty is for you. But then how can you afford an extended warranty? Most people don't get their money back from the cost of the warranty. The ones the dealer sell you just add to your monthly payment. Then again, I don't buy according to a monthly payment.
Having said that, I have paid extra for paint sealer, protectant IE Zylon. Not sure I will do that again either.

Not harsh when between the 3 new fords I own. 25 trips to the dealer for defects. None over 40k yet

Generally, I do not buy extended warranties except for these modern new vehicles. I recommend them to all my friends when buying complicated cars. Especially considering the cost of labor and parts only goes up over time, more rapidly most recently due to several factors.

I think my extended warranty on the Ranger was still under $3k. Last year while out of normal warranty my AC compressor went out and on the same repair the tech finally duplicated the clicking/stepper motor issue and replaced the heater box at the same time. That alone I could imagine would have been well over $4k between the two repairs.

My engine went out at 50k miles but Ford covered that under power train. I just hope if the trans acts up it happens when I still have coverage.

Our 2016 Honda Pilot when a DI injector failed, they said they only do them as sets so the extended warranty was paid just in that repair alone. We also had a control arm bushing and axle boot done with the policy which surprised me they covered that. A fuel pump was done too but I can't remember if that was under warranty or the extended since it has been some years.

So far our '23 Honda Pilot has been trouble free but I have peace of mind and that is what I pay for. Yes I have money in the bank but I deal with enough risk being self employed.

I can very easily see his point cause that’s the way I feel about Toyota. I bought one cause several guys in the shop had them with two and three hundred thousand miles, some so ragged I wouldn’t pull out of the driveway in them but still going. I wound up with a rolling POS from day one and never again will they get my money.
I agree with you on warranties. Some people will make out buying them and some people just threw money away. I bought them many years ago until I figured I was just throwing that money down the big white bowl. And you’re mostly just paying in advance for repairs that may or may not ever happen anyway. I keep a fund handy for unexpected repairs such as a new rear drive shaft.
I was diehard Dodge for many years until they went to fiat or whatever that crap is now. The Ranger is the second Ford I’ve owned, the other being a 2010 Mustang GT five speed and I have been very happy with both. As I said before, they all make garbage and we the customers are the test subjects.
Gotta go to my monthly retirement breakfast, then go to Williamsburg and put up a barred owl house I built. Have a beautiful Ford day.

Are we saying ESP's like from Grainger are a waste, or just extended warranties from like Car Shield?

I would always try to buy a manufacturers warranty when possible but sometimes these others are your only choice if you're already past the date. I was never one to buy any extended warranty up until I bought my '19 Ranger which was a first. Like Anthony @awd.nv said the labor and parts only keep going up and now a days it's not IF something is going to happen it's WHEN.

We all buy insurance based on our needs and it usually gives us peace of mind whether its health, life, LTC, or an umbrella policy. I just look at this as another one that helps me sleep better knowing everything is covered. I have the money to fix things but for the $1,900.00 it cost me why gamble on a potential $6,500+ transmission or a $2,000 BCM/PCM which IIRC happened to Tracy @Tracy Bowman a while back? There's no right or wrong answer, everyone needs to do what they feel the most comfortable with.

Reason I ask is because I'm in the middle of TRYING to get a Grainer ESP and if it's a waste (which I didn't think it was) I'll not go forward. I'm getting a little annoyed as well. I started this over a week ago, filled out everything online and got an email "We're working on registering your plan to your vehicle and a team member will contact you soon" and I haven't herd anything back yet. I even PM'd @Zach@granger and no reply. My factory warranty expires on the 20th and I'm trying to avoid having to have an inspection done to get an ESP. More so for the hassle than anything.

I'll probaly just call them when I get off today.

The peace of mind is worth it.😊

The Grainger is a Ford warranty, not 3rd party.

Or at least it was when I bought mine from them.

Mine more than paid for itself.

Then there's this tidbit of informat The AMC Substitute: As the show's production continued and Chargers became scarce/expensive, producers used other, more available muscle-style cars, including some AMC Ambassadors that were modified to look like the iconic orange Dodge, ion.
Wow! I didn't know that. I liked those old square 1966-1968 Ambassadors
