About to schedule an appointment for 60k maintenance. Going to do the works, have brake pads/rotors/new brake fluid done, and get weird shudder looked at that occurs under hard breaking and occasional thump from rear when decelerating or letting off the gas. Both last two items seem to be driveshaft related rather than brakes.

Looking at Ranger recommended Maintenance schedule really doesn’t require anything else until 100k.

Any other suggestions? Truck runs fine.

If you haven't already I'd have the transfer case and Dif fluids changed and slip joint lubed.

Oh, and don't forget the synthetic blinker fluid. ?

Looks like a good list

I was wondering this, my Ford dealer was trying to sell me on the diff fluid change at 45k miles, which I held off on because I had tires due soon but when I hit the manual, it showed 150k?!?!?!? That seems wild. I liked the idea at 45k-50k since I tow. Did the trans about 40k.

Not sure when people in the forums actually do their transfer and diffs? The extreme use section did not seem to have anything different for the diffs or transfer case either.

Plenty of vehicles go to the grave with original diff fluid. My personal feeling is 30-60k depending on what you're doing with the truck.

Thanks, yeah you aren't wrong about that!

I am guessing I will be ok at the 50k or so mark. Just hitting that funky mile range where I needed tires, then will need brakes probably in 6 months too so trying to space these items out a bit. Oil changes I do full synthetic at 5k miles for good measure too. In the summer I have considered less miles but eh, unless I do summer towing I will probably keep it at 5k miles.

The differentials and transfer case are pretty easy services (DIY) and could probably be done for around $50 plus the cost of a fluid pump. Very cheap insurance and peace of mind. I lowered my spare tire and was able to fill the rear differential from the Ford Motorcraft bottle.

I had my transmission serviced at 55,000 miles. The dealer did a complete fluid exchange by flushing the fluid. Their exchange machine reads pressures and can tell if the filter needs to be changed or if it's fine. I did not change the filter on this service as the Ford dealership said everything was good with the pressures. Draining the pan does not remove all the old fluid where a fluid exchange does. It ran about $290.

Yeah I had the dealer do it, I assumed they would have done a filter too but maybe they did because mine was over $400. I am going to have to ask on the next service.

Maybe I will do the diffs and such myself. I am capable, it is just the time I lack.

Man, took the truck to the dealer I purchased from for an oil change and was shocked when they told me $150 for syn when the closer dealer does it for like $80-90. They had no wait time which was why I went that time in particular. Surprised it varied so much. Their dealer is nice but not that nice lol The local one has a diner which I usually have lunch at when waiting.

60K is a good mileage to do a pan drop with a filter change on the trans. Don't wait until 150k to do it.
I had Ford do the transmission flush at 95,000 but I’m not sure I want to do another flush. I’m leaning towards drain and fill only at 150k.

You're going to need a filter by then if you haven't already.

Drop the pan, replace the filter and refill, that will be good enough.

Yeah, they had to pull the pan to do the flush, or so they told me, and replaced the filter at that time. I read an article that said “not” to flush high mileage automatic transmissions.
