Closeup of eagle talons. When they get ahold of something with these, it’s pretty much over. And yes it will hurt even through my Kevlar welding gloves.

The phoenix area has a huge pigeon problem, I've never seen anything like it. When I first bought my house in Goodyear I heard this God awful noise in the morning coming from the roof. Went out back and looked up and there were pigeons all across the peak. They're nothing but nasty flying cockroaches that love to nest under your solar panels. I started shooting them with my pellet gun and they would move on to the next roof but every spring it started again. When I sold the house the house inspection asked why there were so many dead pigeons on the roof and under the solar panels.I used to live in an apartment with a huge pigeon problem, but for a couple of years there were some hawks in the nearby woods and the pigeons were decidedly less of an issue. Then the hawks disappeared (relocated, I hope) and the damn pigeons came back with a vengeance.
Some of the larger airports are hiring falconers to bring their hawks to scare geese and others away from the runways. The winery we frequent has had recordings of hawks playing over loudspeakers to scare the birds away from the vineyard to protect the grape crop. The phoenix area has a huge pigeon problem, I've never seen anything like it. Are you enjoying your camp as much as you had hoped?A few camp and road to camp pics. All in the UP of MI and snow had been good here this year. The night tracks are the resident moose.![]()
