Does anyone here use automatic tire deflators... I've seen cheep ones on Amazon. I'm not sure which brand to try.

I'm debating getting a set of the Apex valves. Does anyone have any experience or advice on these ?

I use Staun deflators 6-30 PSI SD standard version. Rather than change the setting for different PSI, I keep them set to the high end of my desired range. For even lower pressure, I do a final quick adjustment manually using an ARB Digital Tire Inflator which I also use for airing up with our Ford Performance by ARB Air Compressor purchased from our forum sponsor Benny @LevittownFordParts.com

Though it is a bit pricey, I have these. https://a.co/d/fCVJQwd Simply set the pressure and it will take you to them. I also have a Marco Digital Tire Inflator paired with my ARB Compressor. I can use that to lower the pressure more if needed.

Another vote for the Staun deflators. I have the same ones as RR and they're super easy to use. You just set your pressure (I do 18 psi) and screw them on then back in their pouch and store in the glove box. I also have a Viair 88P air compressor which hooks up to the battery not the 12v plug which I like. It fits perfectly behind the rear passengers seat and out of the way.

My Ranger is a two wheel drive but I have a Jeep Rubicon that I use for getting off the beaten path. Similarly to Dave, @AzScorpion, I use Staun deflators and a Viair pump except mine is a 300P. I set the Stauns to 15 psi.

I like how the Apex valves are permanently fixed to the wheel.
That’s a cool concept but personally I wouldn’t want them permenently attached to my wheel. If there’s a problem (especially out on the trail) you now have to take the tire off to fix it. This could leave you in a bad spot (literally) while off-road and I wouldn’t want to take that chance. With the Staun I just use a different deflator and figure out the problem another time.

I love cool gadgets (hey, I have a damper 😜 ) but sometimes simple is better. Before getting my Staun I would take a very small pebble and screw it down with the cap to let the air out. Now that's Polish ingenuity! 🇵🇱

I have the Apex and they're fantastic. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? If you air down often. I wheel all the time and the saved time is worth it for me.

I was having new tires installed on new wheels and needed TPMS rebuild kits anyway. The Apex were $25ish per valve and the rebuild kits (new valves for the sensor to bolt on to) are ~$18-20.

Glad to hear you like them. I was afraid somebody was going to say they were trash. I'm due to mount new tires,,, probably in January. Gotta get them out of my dinning room. They've been there since July.

Are the OEM TPMS not reusable ?
As in,,, I need to buy a "rebuild kit" ?
I'm ok with it. I just wasn't aware my sensors can't be reused.

I also ordered a pretty decent guage...

The sensor screws onto the bottom of the valve. Since we have the rubber version either 1. they get brittle and crack or 2. you can't swap them between wheels. If you are using the OE wheels again, then you can continue with the OE valves until the start to crack, meaning you don't have to buy new ones. I was swapping wheels anyway and needed new valves. The only ''downside'' to the Apex valves is that you need a torque wrench to install the nut to hold the valve to the wheel and no shops around me had one. I ended up buying an inch/pound torque wrench on Amazon and installed them myself. Again though, my wheels didn't have tires on them when I took them over to have the new tires installed.

I'm kind of excited to get these installed... as soon as my current set of tires wear out.
