I noticed when airing up this weekend at the OHV my smitty built compressor gauge read about 10-15 PSI higher than my ARB gauge, and my truck computer was about in the middle-ish. Im guessing i trust the computer on the truck. The ARB is about 7 years old and has seen some use the smitty built that came with my compressor seems a bit cheap. I don't like jumping back and forth from each wheel to the dash to check my pressure however, maybe ill just make a mark on the pressure gauges with a paint pen that matches with my desired dash readout of PSI?

Any recommendations on a accurate tire pressure gauge?

FWIW this is the compressor im using https://www.smittybilt.com/product-skus/smittybilt-5-65-cfm-air-compressor-2781/
and ARB gauge https://www.amazon.com/ARB-ARB605-Inflator-Gauge-Braided/dp/B0036ULEV0

Jason,
I carry this gauge on my bike because it is small and lightweight. I tested it with Discount's gauges and surprisingly, it came within plus or minus 1psi with their's! It came within 2-3 psi when compared with my bike pump gauges (a portable pump I carry on my bike and a floor pump I have at home). I have another one of these that I keep in the truck and they cost only $2.00 each. I trust Park Tool because of their reputation for quality stuff (bicycle tools and components). The reviews for this gauge on their site are excellent: 4.9! :)

I have one of those JACO testers, Kent!.........my dash says I'm at 30psi and the JACO is consistently 3psi higher all 4 tires. I follow the JACO for all my tires. Very well made and compares with other testers I've tried. Thanks for the links!

i think i may just do a chalk test, check my dash readout and then mark my current gauges. If they prove to at least be consistent than i should be set.

I seemed to notice the gauge on the Ranger to be fairly accurate. The tire pressure gauge I have with the ARB compressor that I got from the auto parts store has been spot on with it too. The Smitty Bilt is probably a waste, as for the ARB it is possible it could be worn out?

@OrangeStreak - as a fellow cyclist and fan of measurement I picked up one of those nifty pressure gauges that is able to adapt to Presta.
Mine came with an adapter too which I also use for the presta valves on my bike. I use this gauge in conjunction with a portable pump I carry in my backpack (in case of flats while out on the field) and also a floor pump at home and which both have built in adapters :like:

I had 3 stick gauges kicking around for years that just kept getting moved to each subsequent vehicle. I haven't used any of them for a decade or more, but recently tested them all against the dial gauge attached to my inflator. One was 6 psi over, one 2 psi over, one 4 psi under. The truck computer is 1 psi over the dial gauge.

Also, using the 4 way inflator, I always leave it attached for a few hours to ensure all 4 tires fully equalize. The dash reads them all the same 90% of the time, with only 1 psi difference if any. Even as they heat up while driving, they all go up consistently. I'm pretty impressed with this generation of TPMS.
