With shipping included it’s still less than half the price of the Amsoil
And that's for fluid that you know is guaranteed to meet the Factory Specifications

I've posted this before, and I'll post it again.

If you are rolling in cash, by all means, use one of the more expensive alternative fluids.

But.

Don't think that the more expensive fluid will excuse getting clean fluid into the transmission. It is becoming pretty obvious that it is more important that you get the particles OUT of the transmission with new fluid than it is to use a 'super fluid'.

Now, what one of the other fluids (HPL/Amosoil) MIGHT do is allow you to skip using Lubegard, but I have nothing at all to back that up and am far to cheap to try it.

I just spit up some coffee. You proudly proclaim "Project Farm" when asked about "research". Nothing beats a Youtuber with a voice that sends animals running, when it comes to "research".
Maybe that's why he spends his time doing Youtube these days, because all his farm animals ran away?
Anyway I bet if you logged in and asked nicely he could produce two identical Brigs engines and run one on Motorcraft ULV and the other on the competition oil, flat stick, until one disintegrated. Then we would know.

Possible dumb question here. But since the 10r80 was a joint venture between Ford and GM, would the Dexron ULV also be an acceptable alternative to the Mercon, Valvoline, Amsoil offerings as well?

I ran Valvoline for 3 drain and fills from 30k until I totaled my '21 ranger at 96k and was quite happy. I just threw a PPE pan on the '23 replacement ranger at 28k and it got Valvoline as well.

Only reason I ask is my local parts store has the Dex ULV at half the price of the Valvoline. I may be tempted to increase the frequency of my changes if compatible.

Only if the Fluid stated that it meet the Ford Specifications.

Yes, you can use the Dexron ULV without question. Dexron and Mercon ULV's are compatible.

Makes sense, most aftermarket ULV oils I've seen will say meets Dexron / Mercon XXX requirements. Followed by GMxxx, FordXXX, Hyunda/KiaXXX, etc.
