The Ranger was extensively vetted in Australia and everything was A-OK when they put it on the boat. Perhaps you should try sitting in the right seat? (And, yes, I agree - there are some vexing things in the cabin.)

Yup, not only Australia but through-out many countries in the SW Pacific. Because of that, the truck is actually at the end of its refresh cycle. When that occurs in a couple of years, and based upon the Ranger's over-all success in the U.S., the interior should be closer to American tastes.

You can also touch the Climate button on the home screen to get heat/ac control on the big screen. I'm slowly learning to use the electronic stuff instead of the redundant buttons. Still not perfect, but better.

Yeah, I know it's there and that Ford moving towards having the customer use the screen for most everything. Guess I'm just getting old because I prefer knobs and such for things like audio and HVAC controls.

Toggle the left screen and you will find a Fuel Gage/Water Temp combo set up. I keep mine displayed as a rule...

Yes, I keep the tac/fuel/engine temp on the screen as my default too. Still, the engine water temperature should have a stand alone gauge, not be buried in one of the many screens available on the left side of the speedo. Although I live at 7,500' in a cold climate, I still want that gauge, Imagine living in AZ or any other southern state in the summer. In that case I'd probably add an additional gauge.

I don't see any need to waste space on a coolant gauge for the ranger--it's got more than adequate cooling, so there's no need to watch it like it's a model t. For those that want to watch it anyway, there's an option.

I suppose manufacturers do not see the need considering the advances in technology. Instead we have idiot lights.

I closely monitor coolant temperature and transmission temperature when towing. Especially useful when towing on a hot day.

well, lucky for you there's a gauge you can configure! I'd rather watch the road, I've never seen the temp on the ranger fluctuate.

Well sense the cold weather has come in I have started getting a plastic rattle in the top of my dash. Seem the colder it get the more it makes noise to the point of buzzing. The noise it coming from the area where the two different pieces of dash come together right in front of me and it's VERY annoying haven't had a chance to find a solution yet as it always happen in the dark early morning on the way to work.

That's why I like the XLT gauge cluster.

I like the XLT gauges so much more than the Lariat ones. The right side on the Lariat is useless,most of the time I just leave it on the compass. Also,they should've had the climate added to the right side because the buttons on the center stack are hard to adjust/see while driving. I know this can be done with FORScan but it should be a factory setting.

That damn double-honk when i get out of my running truck with my key in my pocket. Either give me a proper key and switch or stop annoying me when I use the convenience feature.

And can be easily fixed with FORScan - it is one of the first things I changed. It is very annoying.

I like the beep...I have managed to get out of other push button start cars without noticing that the engine is still running. It's a lot easier to do that if you already have your key.

Aptly put sir, they are true idiot lights because by the time they illuminate the damage has or will very quickly be done.
Ford's bean counter's were at their best in the mid seventies when they combined temperature and oil pressure warning lights into one which cryptically said "engine".
It was up to the hapless driver to decipher which of these vital engine operating systems (or both) went awry.
