I bought a 2020 Lariat in early April before I knew about the problems with the transmission from Crain GMC in Springdale AR. Sure enough I had transmission problems. They have a Crain Comittment warranty for 100,000 miles or 100 years so I went to talk to them (expecting a fight) and they said to drop it off and they would check it out. I got a call about a week later and they said they were going to replace the transmission under their in house warranty. It took longer than I had hoped but I’m thankful they stepped up and made it right.(not something you see everyday any more). It was a little clunky shifting at first but after driving it more it is shifting great now.
While it was at the dealership a bad hail storm went through and now I have to get $15,000 dollars worth of body repairs done. Oh well it could be worse.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought Ford was finally trying to give their 10R80 owning customers a little something extra.

Whose insurance is paying for the hail damage?

Exactly. As vehicle was under the care of the dealership at the time, they should be the one claiming it under their insurance.
Why? The dealership didn’t cause the damage. The vehicles comprehensive coverage should cover it.

Because it was in their care when it happened. What if your vehicle had been struck by another car while it was in their care? Would that be different even it it wasn't them that caused it?

It is covered by my comprehensive insurance. They didn’t cause the hail storm to happen. If it was sitting in the street would you expect the city to pay for it?

Unfortunately, that's not how it works with acts of God. If it was in their shop and a fire took the truck, their insurance would cover it. If it was hit by a dealership car their employee (EE) was driving, it would be covered by their insurance. If it was hit by a car that a random person was driving (not a dealership owned car) or an EE in their vehicle on their time, it would not be paid by the dealer's insurance. If it was hit by a customer in a dealership owned car, it would be covered by their insurance. Just because it is on their property doesn't mean it is covered under their insurance. An act of God, outside, just because it was at the dealer? Not going to be covered by them.

The dealer has to be legally liable due to some negligence on their part. If an employee of the dealer drove into my car, they would be liable. If another customer drives into my car, that customer is liable. A hailstorm is not caused by any negligence on the part of the dealer.
