yep, you'll wanna address that quickly. lucky you didn't have catastrophic damage. ford doesn't sell the hose by itself, instead you'd have to buy the entire fan clutch assembly. instead, just go spend $10-$15 at an auto parts store and rebuild the hose yourself. many have discussed it in the thread that steve shared above.

it'll take you 30 minutes or less to correct. an annoyance, but not bad. just not something you wanna ignore, either.

You Sir - GOT LUCKY, it did not take the harness with it, I suggest fix the hose before even starting the truck, do not chance it.
Right not you have a simple repair but I highly suggest you inspect the harness closely to ensure it was not stress pulled damaging the wires.

Yeah I bought some tubing from another thread that a guy used going to try and make it the same angle the wires and plug look fine, the rubber tubing was up against that fan lug rubbing it to make it look black and s
Smeared.

Scary thing is I dont know how long it's been like that but that tube is completely dry rotted I wonder if the angle of it is even relevant cause right now I have it zip tied up until the tube comes in and it was fine driving I live in the south muggy amd hot alot rubbers worst enemy lol glad I was installing CAI amd hot and cold aftermarket pipes otherwise I wouldbt have known about this, and thank you guys.

Does the angle really have to be a certain way though?

You can use 3/8" fuel hose and a worm gear clamp on the engine side to replace it, reusing the clamp on the fan side. I did this to get by so I could get to work in the interim. It worked and I could have left it like that. I ended up getting a 3/8" molded 90 degree coolant hose from Napa and cut both ends until it was the right length and installed that. The angle to the fan ended up being better. Part number for the hose is 10031.

Friday yet?

What year is your Ranger and how many miles are on it?
Keep checking the hose on mine but so far so good.

At one point I thought yes, but after various posts about the hose being broken and the fan still works, it has been determined as long as you get it close to what the (OE) angle was.
All that hose does is provide support for the harness.
The main function of the sensor is pick up fan speed (feedback) to the PCM for PCM control, so no matter what rotational position the sensor is in, it still functions as intended as long as the sensor itself is stationary.

I have wondered if you use a metal 90 degree fitting instead of bending a hose would be better. Long term straight hose should last longer. Especially a high end silicone one.

I was thinking along those same lines....BUT....maybe too much vibration for a metal support.....
And, how would you attach, especially to engine side....not too much of a nipple there to attach too.

Put a short piece of silicone hose on each end

HaHaHa....but now you have to run 4 clamps....remember.....KISS !!!
Better to just use some reinforced 3/8 inch fuel line instead of regular heater hose...

True, or just a braided silicone hose. Those are really long lasting.
