I remove and clean my UPR can with brake cleaner at every oil change. No problems yet, Here's what I've trapped in 22K miles. I think I am going to start cleaning the check valves as well.

Anyone else thinking about installing an oil catch can once they're available? I see it's a pretty popular mod and haven't seen any discussion on it yet.
immediately following that install is to install the @AzScorpion tailgate damper

What exactly does a catch can do and is it really necessary? Saw a thread talking about catch cans a while back and it got me wondering if it’s something I should consider putting on the ranger. Not entirely sure what they even do? Are there pros and cons to having one?

They collect oil from the pcv system. Supposed to stop oil build up on valves. I personally have one because I dont think an oil mist in the intake is good for the turbo or the intercooler. Call it peace of mind for me. Does it work? Well it fills with oil. Does it benefit my engine? We probably will never really know.

Dosen't the Ranger already have one built in. From the service manual.

Does this look like the same item as the upgraded part? @PandaMotorworks stated the factory unit doesn't perform as well as it could and seemed to imply this billet unit will fix that. I understand our 2.3 liter blocks are based on the 2.2 Focus but I don't see our trucks listed for this part.

Can Troy @Pandamotorworks Troy find out if it will work on our Gen5's?

Direct, in-cylinder fuel injection is a great system. But it will eventually result in carbon build up above and around the intake valves since they aren't washed clean with a fuel/air mixture. This buildup will restrict intake air flow and other serious problems. The fix is expensive, requiring intake manifold removal and mechanical removal of the carbon.
I installed a catch can to remove the crankcase vapors from the intake air stream. I think the cost and trouble will pay off in the long run.

I installed one when I purchased my truck. I checked it after 3 months and sure enough, there was about two fingers of oil in it. Nasty oil. I don't want that on my valves at all. I am happy with my purchase.

I have one. No complaints. But my mechanic had a devil of a time installing it.

The UPR installation on my 2019 Ranger was a bear. ...I ended up with a home grown hack to get the job done. I'll make a separate post.
Later model Ranger installations are plug and play, with a beer in one hand.

I thought that maybe it was because mine was 2 wheel drive. Or maybe because mine is a mid production 2019
