I googled VKB3299406A10A and it's not showing anything relevant. Nothing on Ford Canada accessories yet either. If someone would be so kind as to confirm that is in fact the correct number, I'll call my dealer and see what shows up on this side of the border.

It should be. If I go https://accessories.ford.com/ and search by vehicle, I can find it under "cargo products", all the way at the bottom.

Well, that confirms the part number. I'm not surprised you found it on a different website than I was looking at. I need it to show on the Canadian website.

Thanks for finding that. I guess I will wait until someone confirms it works and if so, I can talk to my dealer to get it thru them. I don't know what else I'd use these points for, so this would be a great use of some of them.
I was able to use my points to order parts through the service dept.
They need to write a service ticket...

^ This! You should definitely be able to use your points on it. Like Surf said, you have to go in and have them write up an invoice through the dealer to apply the points towards.

I have seen lots of talk of these on this forum. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but what's the point? I truly don't see the point of this and I'm looking for an explanation. Maybe I need it and don't know...
No point to it.
Just a cool mod.
Could be a safety item.
My Wife would like, but she never lowers it. Also good for kids.
Not a mandatory thing, just an option some of us would like.
Few modifications are critical and justified. Just something one wants.

It is kind of funny - there are other mods (like the "raptor" grille lights, or swapping out bulbs for LED bulbs) that really don't have a "point" - but many people like them. Funny that those mods don't seem to garner the same ridicule or hate that the tailgate damper does.

As you stated - it isn't a "must have" but a "want" or a "cool add".

this is definately a hot topic with well over 4000 views now.

Ford probably is kicking themselves for not having this ready for the truck at first delivery

You're right, 4600 views in 4 days I'd say it's a hot topic.

This is a frustrating subject for sure. I’m this <-> close to pulling the trigger on this. I mean we all waited soooo long and still waiting what’s a couple more weeks. Might just be worth waiting for OEM at this point and having everything tucked away like it shoulda been from the factory. I don’t want to hear about Chinese crap either, my DeeZee damper has been installed on my F150 for 14 years and it still works perfectly.

Winter is coming fast and I won’t be using my truck/tailgate as much as i have been, that is a factor for me.

I think there'd be less ridicule if everyone approached it as a "cool add" and there wasn't a vocal subset of "why didn't ford include this critical feature without which the truck is a total POS with a non-functioning tailgate" which is somewhere between amusing and ridiculous.

At least it will be coming soon. I’d like to think they’re out of stock because they’re shipping them to all 2019 owners for free as they’re putting them standard on 20+.

Wishful thinking I’m guessing.

Well MarkP's thread may have been shut down (why?) :curse: But we're still getting ours before anything from Ford shows up:wink::wink:
