I’m in CT. On my second fill up I put the nozzle in and started pump. Clicked off. Repositioned nozzle started pump and got barfed on by gas. Wet shoe. Repositioned nozzle and did a slow refill. Never had this happen until I had Ranger. The manual actually says insert nozzle to first notch. I have yet to see a nozzle notch. Will see next time but I think this system needs some work. At least I now know to stand back from the Ranger when pumping.
When I was a gas jockey in the mid seventies @ a high volume gas station I remember Gen1 Falcons and Comets always barfing up gasoline if you tried to fill them with haste. My '65 Mustang, however had no problem taking on fuel, as well as consuming it...it was a notchback with a K code 289, God I wish I still had that car...pass everything but a gas station, lol.

This prob. varies big-time from pump to pump. Pain when it happens.
Just had my first issue with this today. One pump did NOT like me and would not fill until I was pumping super slow.
Luckily I was just topping off before driving back home so I only had to put about five gallons in. If I was coming from empty it would have really irked me.

I haven't had an issue with my 2021 XLT.... so far. But then again I have only filled it up 5 times, every time at Costco.

It’s really only a problem in California because of the vapor blocking mechanism they have on all the nozzles. Not sure if you’re in California or not...

since I moved to North Carolina I have not had a problem!

Almost every fill up for me is an adventure. The gas shuts off too soon, or the nozzle slips out (then shuts off). Have to slow feed the gas; fingers often end up smelling of gas. Haven’t filled out of state yet for comparison.

Just fill up at an Indian casino their pumps don’t have the vapor lock like all the others. Only down side is a tank of gas seems to run me about $500

but yeah. I have to stand there and hold it and that filler on the tremor is not made for short people to hold for 5 mins at that angle

More often then not, when I'm fueling up my '21 I have to physically hole the gas nozzle up to avoid it auto-shutting off. If I just leave the nozzle in the Easy Fuel opening, the nozzle will sag down and cause it to just auto stop the flow of gas. Anyone else have this issue and/or any solves? Very much a "1st world problem", but it would be nice to not have to physically hold the nozzle.

I've been using vehicles with the easy fuel opening for 10 years, only ever had an issue once where it shutoff on me prematurely, and that was just because the nozzle wasn't in far enough. Sounds to me more like an issue with the gas stations you're going to

Mine has shut off but verrrrrry few times. 95% never have a problem with. Found out/experimented and if you use the first nozzle stop instead of fast, fuel will flow easier and not cut off.

Also the Easy Fuel opening itself doesn't seem to be firmly attached to the truck. The port itself will sag when I insert a gas nozzle—is that normal?

I've had this issue at pretty much every gas station brand you can think of...

I have this issue with my 21 too.Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t but it might be the gas stations like rangerpnw said

Do you happen to have these bumpers on your local pump? Regardless, it may indeed have something to do with the angle of the handle... I have never had this issue with my Ranger, to answer your question. But I have experience working on older sports cars, like an older 911 for example, you need to refuel with the handle upside down because the angle of the handle will cause it to shut off..

My theory is if you had these little bumpers on your state pumps that maybe it's pushing the angle of the nozzle down too far and causing shutoff. I feel like I've used this style pump before with no issue but this is the only thing I can think of that would cause the nozzle to not go all the way in...

Interesting, thanks for the replies everyone. I sometimes wonder if maybe the gas nozzles are just too heavy for the Easy Fuel system? When I put a nozzle in, it like weighs down the gas hole until it sags far enough that the auto shutoff happens
