I wanted to follow up here: I drove to Keystone today (so... through the mountains) and I am really, really happy. I was able to maintain 65 mph going up I-70 without dropping out of 9th gear. My buddy, with the same tire size (though he's got a Tune camper) was in 6th to try and keep the same speeds. He's on the cusp of re-gearing, so I don't feel bad making him feel bad. ha! Up and down the mountains was a breeze with the gears, allowing me to slow with engine braking (Once I did gear lockout. I did heat up the brakes going into Keystone).

As a side note, when I left my house this morning, my AMPG was 17.7. After driving up and down the mountain, I am at 18.6. With my LRA tank, I have an estimated range of 750 miles (250 driven, 500 remaining).

First off unless there is a problem with your transmission (and I mean major problem) there is no way you are lugging.

Second, unless you are going bigger like to a 35 you have no need for a re gear. I ran 33's on my 2019 and did just fine.

What could be your problem is the tire choice you have. For example I went with the Firestone Destination XT Wich weighs in at 51 lbs a piece. Compare that to a KO2 in the same size and load range(load E to be exact) and the tire is 58 lbs a piece. Go to a mud terrain and you can forget it.

Put simple the tire you have may just be to heavy. If you haven't done so already just get it tuned. Also tow mode seems to help a bit for daily driving.

EDIT: was going through your build page(some neat stuff to say the least) and saw you already have it tuned. With that said if you are only running 87 I suggest going to a higher octane fuel like 91. It will make a difference on driveability and most likely a difference MPG as well as long as you are trying to drive for MPG.
I have 35" on my Fx4 XLT and never use 10th gear unless I am going down hill or just coasting. When off roading, in 1st gear, granny range, I am still rolling too fast when I need to use engine braking to creep down steep inclines. Definitely would like to go 4.46 gears up front and in back.

How many miles do you have, and have you had any issues arise from having those heavy of tires, I just put the same size of tires that are about the same weight as yours on my new Bronco and looking to see if there's any problems I will have in the future.

Even with only 33's it drives so much better in every aspect.

The front gears were on backorder for months, but finally got them. Now to line up an installer!

Local shop performed the 4:46 front/rear swap on mine a few weeks ago. Running 34's..... so far, so good. Unleashed tune is next.

Well, put mine in 4-Hi and 4-Low today for the first time after the 4:46 swap (FT and RR)..... damn thing makes a large knocking/clunk sound in the front that you can feel with every axle rotation above 10 MPH. About ready to give this off-roading hobby and Ford the middle finger and get back into road racing.... far fewer problems tracking my past cars than I've had with this damn truck.... and it hasn't even been off road yet..... F***ing frustrating! Sorry guys, needed to vent.

That's an installer problem there. No one else has had issues.

Possibly.... the ring and pinions came from 2 different sources. The rear R&P was a new Dana 4:46 from Bronco Graveyard. The front 4:46 came from a mechanical engineer (employed by Ford) up north that purchased a new 4:46 M190 FDU from Ford for his base model Bronco. He was going to swap out the front FDU's but changed his mind after he was past being able to return it. We came to an agreement on price and he was nice enough to remove the R&P (welded to carrier), bearings, etc and send them to me. I could be wrong, but it feels like, and may be, a front/rear ratio mismatch. Will have to put it on a lift and rotate-to-calculate the ratios to make sure someone didn't screw up and send me the wrong ratio..... regardless of fault, it's still frigging frustrating.

I ordeed the front one from ebay and the wrong gears were on the box. I counted the ring and pinion teeth and verified they were wrong.

That's really frustrating, I'm sorry you're dealing with that.

Could it be a bad CV?

The installer (that I didn't end up using) argued with me about gearing ratios. He kept telling my the fronts were 4.56 and the rear were 4.46 (obviously bad) even though both kits said 4.46. That is why I ended up going with the Yukon kit that included all pieces needed for install.
