I understand the simplicity of having a physical device installed to disable the auto stop-start functionality, but at $84.99 on sale (regularly $99.99), why would one not opt for a FORScan modification instead? Assuming you have the computer hardware and know-how to do so.

A FORScan compatible OBD2-to-USB cable looks to be available for $34.99-$59.99 and one can utilize the FORScan 2-month free trial or purchase the lifetime license (for what appears to be $50?) to gain that same functionality and more for roughly the same total cost.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that FORScan requires neither a custom tune file nor an ECU flash to function, but rather that it is primarily a diagnostic tool to modify parameters within the ECU.
Unfortunately it appears that as of 12/18/24, we are no longer able to buy extended licenses for Forscan. You can still get the Free 2 month license. The lifetime license has not been available for some time.

Appears the current deepening of sanctions against Russia have prevented their licensing company from doing any financial transactions to Russia.

Fortunately the free trial license can do all the same things as the paid license, just time limited.

That's disappointing to hear. I don't currently own either part, just found that (dated) info with a quick google search.

It appears I was too late for the train then... I was considering purchasing a FORScan adapter and the software to go with, but with sanctions in place and the questionable moral/ethical associations of supporting Russia and Russian Businesses, that makes me think otherwise. License issues put aside, I didn't realize it was of Russian origin.

I appreciate the insight.

The 2 month free trial can be used over and over... Not sure that qualifies as supporting, but its the only option. Forscan is great.

A little late to the party. But here is a full list of what i have done to mine along with links on to where i purchased from. I originally did the UPR bov adapter to vent to atmosphere with stock BOV but since swapped to the Turbosmart. I did swap to the Sealight LED headlight, fog, turn signals from Halogen and needed resistors for the turn signals. Also added the AVS window rain guards.

On the lighting i did originally go with a cheaper option on the side markers from amazon and those lasted about a year before corroding and i had to get new socket connectors from Ford.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that FORScan requires neither a custom tune file nor an ECU flash to function, but rather that it is primarily a diagnostic tool to modify parameters within the ECU.
Forscan is a software program that is a Scan Tool (Reader) with limited special functions for testing and live data (PIDs)
The issue on this side of the Sofware is (LIMITED)
However, where is (SHINES) it allows you to alter (adjust) As-Built data in all modules except the PCM (where it limits) changes.
Now as far as disabling the ASS with Forscan as I did a side by side compare from my truck (with the ASS deleted from the factory) Covid Supply Chain - TY FORD.
So, in curiosity I noted everything that was different from my As Built to others that have ASS and noted them here somewhere. There were not that many changes, and I do not have the switch installed. So, it was mainly turning off anything to do with the ASS switch and also turning off the IPC (ASS) screen.
If I recall, I do not think anyone has tried to set the As-Builts up that I posted to disable ASS, however there was a member who like me had the (ASS Delete) and wanted to ENABLE it back and was unsuccessful in doing so. So, I believe there are some settings in the PCM for the ASS system that also need changed.
The problem with locating those is they are buried and hidden in the Transmission ID blocks - so the tuning side of the PCM and would need a Tuners expertise to break down all the blocks that need changed. I have noted the ones that popped up (showed) different between an ASS and Non-ASS truck but have not confirmed they are actually tied into the ASS system.

So, in a nutshell- the popular way to disable the ASS is to disable the BMS sensor via disconnect the connector or turn it off via Forscan. But this disables both ASS & BMS.
Simple and easy.
If you simply want to disable the ASS only, then it appears to be not so simple of a procedure using Forscan, I am HAPPY I do not have it - I despise the system and mainly the FORCEFULLNESS on how they implement it - It should be a feature you can tick off and it stays off - PERIOD.

The system automatically activates with every ignition cycle and that is due to the fact that the ASS switch is a momentary pulse to a relay - to turn the system off and on.
This is what the A/S Eliminator does, it automatically pulses the circuit as if you were pressing the switch - So every time you start the truck - George Jetson is pushing the switch for you.
I know that it is not much of a big deal and over time it will become nature to just hit the switch before you start to drive - it's just the principle of the system that really gets me fired up.
Now if we can only get - George to push the button and present a steak dinner - now we are set and happy.

In the end of this, you are wanting to disable the ASS it is much easier to just plug in the Eliminator or disconnect the BMS sensor - Simple & Easy and these days (Cheap)
as another posted mentioned - all of the As-Built changes will need to be done manually (Not the Easy menus) some are comfortable doing this - MOST are not and steer clear of entering that side of the module programming. I actually prefer it, I want to SEE what is being changed, not a click here tab and it makes the changes automatically (what if there is a mis-program of that tab)? how do you know what happened and what was incorrectly altered? YOU DON'T without going through every single As-Built data line to locate the file that was changed improperly.

The Eliminator was a good investment for me and has worked without a hitch. I got more and more irritated after pushing the the on/off button for the 1st year and when I forgot to turn it off occasionally listening to the engine stumbling when it started again. Also I get a notification on the instrument panel when I start the truck that indicates the on and off status of the ASS system. Does this notification show when the ASS is disabled by FORscan? Thanks.
I have no notification …my ASS was disabled by FORScan.

I see you're from NM too. Great weather in this area. Yesterday (last day of the year) clear and sunny at around 4:30 PM...

My simple solution to disabling ASS was to plug a night light into the AC outlets in the back. I requested it be disabled when I purchased my Unleashed tune(r). Used Forscan to disable the fake engine noise and double honk. Downloaded the as-built data from Ford a while back so I can set the truck to stock when I bring it to the dealership.

As for must have accessories (if it isn't already in this thread) the AVS hood protector is pretty high up on my list. Got one after a few months of ownership seeing chips on the leading edge of the hood.

Love the warm weather! It’s nice to know a member from NM. I am out in Edgewood.
My sister and husband live in Edgewood...they like it a lot and won't live any where else.

I have been contemplating if i want to get the AVS Aeroskin Lightshield. I have been on the fence between it and the standard AVS like you have. Once i saw someone local with the Lightshield i now want it. lol Looks pretty cool.
