Nope a Ranger on a Ranger.
The truck has almost 59K miles. So I would have had to buy another extended warranty. It's around $1500 for another extended warranty so I decided to get a new truck.
I am lucky I had the extended because just after the factory original warranty was up the AC took a dirt nap. They replaced the everything but the condenser to the tune of $6+k on the invoice, cost me $50.

You traded a Maverick on a Ranger? Did you need more capacity or didn't like Maverick.
The Maverick is a very nice truck in general. It has a very smooth ride, great fuel mileage, and lots of interior room. That said, it is basically a cross-over with a bed. Bed length is 4.3', which I found limiting at times.

I don't really need back seat space since the kids are grown and out on their own; all I really need is some storage space in the cab. Eventually, I may want to resume doing my own snow plowing and that's not something the Maverick can do. All of that combined made me want to get back into a body on frame truck.

I gave a Maverick some thought but went with a Ranger as well.

The local dealer was full of you know what. Kept me there for almost an hour and then came back with a 4x4 truck. Not what I wanted. Got pissed. Got loud then a manger came out and he was also full of XXXX. The truck was at another dealer of there brand. What gets me is I am in a dealer with 40 sales cubes and probably 20 guys surfing the net. +8 people in there eCommerce room. No buyer in there but me. I cant understand how these people stay in business. In all my years of purchasing vehicles its always the same BS. Now I gota pick a bed cover. Had a RollNLock didn't like the loss of the bed under the front otherwise a great cover. Looking at a fold up.
When I traded for my Ranger the first dealer, I went to low balled my trade and I told him he was too low on trade, and he told me " I don't give a F--k what you do with your trade" That is no kidding and could not believe he said it so kept looking and found mine at another dealer. The salesman I was working with was a friend of mine and was shocked when he heard that remark and it was the sales manager that said it. They get very defensive like that when you call them on their crap. I put a fold up on mine it is a Bak Flip I like it.

Before I I even drove onto the lot for my ‘24 Ranger I had printed offers from Carvana, Carmax & Webuyanycar all in the 18-22k range (19 Lariat 2wd, 75k)
*first offer from dealer: $18k, I got up & started walking towards the door & said I was going somewhere that was serious about closing a deal.

I definitely wouldnt accept anything less than $20k for the trade, especially since they will turn around and try to sell the vehicle for $25k after they change the oil & run it through the car wash.

Apologies to anyone in the biz...

Having said that, I hate car salesman. Almost as much as lawyers, they're one step above but a close second. Two professions that when given the chance will gladly screw you out of thousands of dollars if you're dumb enough, naive enough, not educated enough, assertive enough, male enough (they take women over the coals constantly) to stop them.

I really just have issues with people that work in industries set up that way and that reward people for behaving that way ?

I bought a new WRX yesterday to replace my 22 WRX . Carvana gave me a trade-in price and the dealer gave me a $700 increase above Carvana. Of course I brought the Carvana estimate with me.. this is not mine but something to give you an idea. I blew out my left knee, so I’m having difficulty with the left clutch pedal so I got an automatic..

First, these charges are bogus and you should demand they be removed:

Appearance Protection - 3 Yr ** + $699.00
Dent Protection - 3 Yr ** + $699.00
Tinted Windows (2) + $199.00 [ask for the tint certificate if they refuse to remove]
TRANSPORT + $600.00 [you already paid for this on the Monroney Sticker(MSRP), unless you specifically had this truck transported from another dealer]

Anything that is taxable is negotiable. I would walk away if they didn't take off this crap.

Also remember the sales tax on your new vehicle purchase is based on the difference after your trade. Keep that in mind when figuring out whether it's best to sale/trade in.

Another one I just noticed. On the itemized purchase order for my new Explorer, there was an item labelled "Accesories," and a $500 charge. So I called our sales person, whom we had bought the last two new vehicles from and asked about it, because I didn't recall ordering any accessory. After a slightly too long pause, she said that that is for the Lojack. I told her to immediately delete that from the order. She tells me that "comes up automatically" on a purchase order form, but she would put a note on the service order when the car comes in. She's been a straight shooter in the past so believe her. Then I told her to be absolutely sure there is no charge and more importantly, no Lojack hardware or software embedded in my vehicle on delivery day. I'm paying cash, so there's no reason to find the car to repo it, and Ford and I can track it if it gets stolen through the FordPass app.

The store is now part of the Lithia Dealer Group, so I'm thinking this is one of the changes in policy that they impose.

I picked up the truck today. What a difference from the 2019. Now if I could just figure out how to configure the glass cockpit.
Pics for us to drool over???

Our dealer pulled the same crap. Prior to special ordering, our salesman agreed to our terms of:
  • NO dealer add security/theft system
  • NO dealer stickers
  • NO nitrogen fill in tires
  • NO window etching for theft recovery
They notified us 4 days after the truck had been delivered. When we went to pick it up, it had all of the above. Their excuse was, "We do this to all of our new vehicles". We could have refused the truck, but we loved it and did not want to begin the process again. Especially after waiting for 5 months through the covid shutdown. Dealer didn't care if we refused it, they would have sold it easily.

In the end, they didn't charge for any of the above, removed the stickers, removed the theft system, replaced damaged lower kick panel that theft sensor was screwed into.

Bonus: We were able to keep the green nitrogen filled valve stem caps and etched windows
