A basecoat clear coat is one color applied, and then clear coat applied this would be a standard paint job. Tricoat is a base color which is often silver but depends on finished color then another layer which is often translucent is applied then a clear coat. This is how they get the candy-colored paint like ruby red and pearl white that ford uses. This is the reason for the extra 795.00 they charge.
