I used mine for what I bought it for - navigating the narrow, brushy forest service roads so I could get to places like this (although this old logging landing was not small, the road getting to it was):

And I think they sell recovered forged nails on eBay as haunted coffin nails for wanna be witches! =D
I saved everyone of those nails that hadn't rusted to to the width of a wire. The rusted ones were near that section that had been previously reworked in the laundry room, proving they didn't do enough work on it when they did it last time.

I did the toilet with new wax ring years ago, was one of the first things to change in the house after buying it, I needed an elongated bowl as that is just what I've use to and I wanted a water saving dual mode flush. I've had one electrical outlet about torch the house due to back install from who every replaced the outlets at some point before I bought the house, likely my battery backup that was downstream on that circuit started beeping and I walked into the living room to investigate why that battery was not happy while the others in the house were fine, then I heard the buzz/buzz as I walked into the room. Pull the fused on that circuit and went back to bed after turning off the battery. Next day when I removed the outlet it was pretty charred up. Replaced it, then at the wife's request, powered the whole house down and inspected every outlet in the house to see if any others had a loose connections as was found in that charred one. Only a couple others were found, all in the living room area.

Kids, if you are thinking of home ownership, don't bother unless you are handy, or have the money to pay others to do the job right. So much was found wrong with the house that the seller had to fix before we bought it that we should have walked away, but, big garage, small house was my dream and hard to find on the market then (2003) for 100k or less in my area.

A while back, in the old house in western MA, We decided on a complete mudroom, kitchen, half bath, and foyer renovation. The mudroom and half bath had commercial ceramic tile on the floors that was in great shape. However, the kitchen and foyer, about 200sf, had what was essentially wall tile on luan over a 3/4" ply subfloor. Rather than hire someone or rent a demo hammer, my son and I set up my pancake compressor and an air chisel and went at it. He was having so much fun being Demo Man that I just him have at it while I cleaned up behind him. It took us two days. It took another two days to pull out all of the loose subfloor nails and screw it down properly, and replace sketchy sections along the way. On top of that, I put 1/4" Hardie Backer, screwed and cemented, and then did the smart thing and had a tile shop install high traffic ceramic tile.
If I had to do it again, I would be ok with the demo, but would likely pay for the floor install. It's not perfect, but i did good to get it "good" enough in the open area and get the worse of it under the cabinets area. Basically, the leveling pour didn't make it as level as I had hopped. I did use a concrete grinder on my angle grinder to clean it up, yes with good respirators for my son and I, but decided to not work the hump where the cabinet go too much.

The area I'm having to redo is about 240 sq ft, which may not sound like much, but it's nearly a quarter of my little house.

100K? <shakes my head>. Good for you.

I bought my first house at age 25 in central MA right before foreclosure. Fixed everything up and doubled my money in a flat market in 3 years. It's all about desire and willingness to work hard, make mistakes, recover, and move on. My youngest son took after Dad and at 26 bought a row house in a beautiful section of Baltimore City last year. He is not handy but the 7 hour drive doesn't bother me much :). His furnace is crapping out and he had to decide whether to pour a few $K into repairing it or replace it. He figured out that paying for the replacement on time with zero interest is smarter than taking chances on an old system. He's a smart kid. It's already worth $50K more than when he bought it.

Checked out Creekside Offroad Ranch just north of Houston on Friday afternoon. It's been unusually dry around here so the trails were just right. Nice place.

Nice job. Get that lower trim panel lined up and securely fastened so that your vacuum doesn't knock it off.
unfortunately it is… one of the prior owners redid the kitchen DIY so the dishwasher sits down at a lower level than the laminate on the subfloor. That also made the opening exactly 33” so I ended up having to buy an ADA dishwasher to fit in. I ended up destroying the old one extricating it and fortunately didn’t damage the laminate or the countertop in the process. ??‍♂

Grind or file it to fit, then finish it up with a rattle can.

Was part of 5 trucks & 2 trailers loaded with Helene relief supplies to north western NC. Went to a different location than where my team has been working, pictures just do not do justice to the devastation. Chainsaw work all day.
