Some Laphroaig four cask. Stuff from my own plot :D
Fancy fancy, haven’t had the four cask, I do remember the sherry oak being a very inexpensive but good one…
I’m gonna keep a look out for that four cask.

The cottage is on a Monarch butterfly migration route (eastern shore of Lake Huron) and sometimes, we are treated to the sight of thousands af Monarchs cruising down the beach on their way to Mexico. They lay their eggs on milkweed plant leaves and the caterpillar dines on these plants, exclusively. We have several of them in our flower bed and there are at least six or eight of the crawlers feasting away right now.

Mrs. DukeCanBuildit bought an indoor caterpillar house and we have three indoors (safer - away from birds, raccoons, skunks, etc.). As long as I keep adding fresh leaves, they will grow, molt, spin a cocoon, and turn into butterflies. You can see one in its house below, just under one of the leaves

It’s a bit like having a gerbil - you have to keep adding new leaves and cleaning out the house - they poop a lot! ?

Well, we have two in the chrysalis form at the moment. Here’s one…

It happened overnight, so we missed it. We could tell the other one was getting ready but it happened when we were having breakfast and we missed it - it happens that fast!

At the moment, it’s hard to say just what it is but in a little over a week, it will be a Monarch Butterfly.

What an exciting time. A lot of people think Cabin Life is all sunsets, s’mores, and Happy Hours. It’s a good thing you folks already know about, and seem to enjoy, hard work and maintenance.

The pups look like they’ve already made their choice and are ready to make an offer. ?

We hope to build a little trail on the 40 acres to groom over the winter. We have always lived in towns and thought it was time to get out. At least for a few years.

40 acres is about the size of 1-1/2 golf courses (give or take) so that’s a lot of area to put in a small trail, especially if you’re creative in your design. A cabin in the woods with a private skiing trail sounds like a dream!

If there’s a rest hut with a fire pit somewhere in the middle of it, sign me up!
