Despite the fact I’ll be moving on from my ‘21 Ranger for (hopefully) greener pastures in the near-ish future, I
100% intend to stay an active member of this forum. Why? The people. I realize I don’t contribute nearly as much as others, but there is such an incredible pool of knowledge and life experiences, the forum reminds me of the old jeepsunlimited forum (I had an ‘00 XJ for years, and that forum was my Wikipedia when I got stuck). Y’all have answered so many of my questions without me having to start a thread, so thank you.

I’m curious - prior to Ranger5G, where did you spend most of your ‘car forum’ time? For me, it was JeepsUnlimited and a forum for old Audis (can’t remember the name).

Good luck with your next adventure and maybe I missed it but what are you moving on to?

I never spent much time on any auto forum before this one. I've been on many from Tacoma World to multiple gun forums and retirement ones. This one has always been different and was run very well from the Admin to all the other mods before me. They never over-moderated like some forums do. They would let you speak your mind (to a point) and would only step in if/when things got really out of hand. This place is more like a family and I think we have the best group of people who are willing to go out of their way to help someone in need either on and off the forum. I've met several here and have made long lasting friendships with many others who I hope to meet someday.

I will say that Tacoma World was/is the absolute worst of them all! :puke:? Most of the gun ones were ok and the retirement ones were full of knowledgable people. I would mostly lurk on those but I learned a lot from the FIRE group. I'll still occasionally glance through the financial ones because we're getting closer to retirement and I've always loved finances and investing. I've tried being active on R6G at first but lets just say it's a whole different breed over there. lol ?

This is my first and currently only forum. Like you, I've learned a lot about my truck here that I would otherwise have had no clue about.

Good people here, for sure. You won't be the first, nor the last to hang around after trading for something else just for the sake of keeping company with these folks.

We look forward to seeing pics of why you're moving on!

I also am on several Jeep forums and a couple of firearms forums. There is one Jeep forum that is very bad to anyone new or asks a question that the members think is basic; it was so bad that the owner created a section for newbies and warned the usual members to go easy.

This Ranger forum is the very best that I have been on. There is great knowledge and a willingness to share. I really enjoy the light-hearted banner that goes on here; all in good fun and not abrasive. I think this forum is a bit unusual in that is a bit of a joy to visit here. The only downer to me is the use of foul language from time to time. I was in the service and also worked construction so I was guilty of that often but knowing there are women and young people here, I cringe a bit when I see it.

Before the online forums there were mailing lists. For quite a while I was into upscale German cars from the '80s and '90s because they were easily repairable and cheap for what you got (I still own three). Richard Welty's BMW list was a go-to for me in the late '90s as well as Richard Sexon's Mercedes-Veterans list.

Usenet was also a decent resource. I remember a guy on one of the MB Usenet lists calling Benz CEO Juergen Schrempp Jerkin'Shrimp. Funny. Does Usenet even exist anymore? Dunno.

I wasn't reading any car forums until I logged on to Escape.org. I had a 2018 SEL at the time, and there were news reports of coolant seepage into the cylinders, so I went there for owners' opinions and experience. True that you get a lopsided opinion on a forum, but there were enough occurences of coolant intrusion that I started coming here, as Ranger and GMC Canyon were on my short lists. I peered over everyones' shoulder for a few months and this forum helped me decide to order a Ranger and login here- and off the Escape quickly. I'm a Ford guy, bought or leased 13 of them, 9 were/are new and my BIL really likes his 2016 Canyon; nice truck, I do too, but...

I'm also on a couple motorcycle forums dealing with the bikes I currently own. both are pretty level headed and helpful.
I don't go on any social media

This is the only forum I’ve ever been on. I have learned a lot and have grown very fond of the people here. All very distinct personalities.? It can be quite entertaining at times.

Like others, this is the only forum that I've ever really been a part of; I'm on a few Facebook groups, but this is my go-to for real info, especially on vehicles (which I'm the first to admit that I'm a novice compared to some of the experience here), but even for non-vehicle related info. This forum just "gets it" and is full of people who are actually willing to help their fellow humans, rather than bragging about how superior they are, or ignoring the "basic" questions. Sure, there's a few buttheads, but overall, this is a stellar group of people.

Planning on moving to a ‘25 Maverick when ordering opens up late July (I think?). Word from a family member that works at Ford is an AWD version of the hybrid will be made available. So rather than pulling the trigger on a ‘24, I’ll hang tight - at least until the end of July.

Really great to hear about all of the positive experiences folks have had here!

I started on here before the 5G was actually available when I was researching my next truck. I've stuck around because of the people. It is one of the best forums I've ever been involved with.

Before my Ranger, a motor vehicle was for getting from point A to point B with the obligatory stop at Home Depot. Then I got my Ranger. Then I found you guys. Then I found poverty and debt. Yeah.... thanks for that.
.... I got a really cool truck though. ;)

I had a '99 Mazda B4000 4x4 prior to my '21 STX. I very often visited ranger-forums.com. They covered 3g and 4G. I learned a lot from there to get the B4000 fixed and running right.
When I was contemplating the 5G, a spend many weeks here for research to help in making a decision.

Got give a lot of credit for this forum's success to the moderators. I have been on a couple forums before, but have not spent near as much time on as this one. It helped me get my truck just the way I like it. So the thought of trading it in and starting all over does not sit well with me. Yes, it cost me some $$ to get it right. (now I gotta go get some stuff to reblacken my window trim, dammit!)
