It was a a great game - best NHL (National Hockey League) players in a battle that was decided in OT (Overtime). See, back on track with the acronyms thing.

I was going to text you but I was too busy running around my rec room jumping up and down and screaming CA-NA-DA, CA-NA-DA, CA-NA-DA!
I've posted on R5G before, that few Americans know that the proper noun, CANADA, actually started out as an acronym.

You see, on July 1, 1867 the dominion was formed when the eastern colonies of British North America were united to become a nation; the Commonwealth of the Northern Dominion. A young journalist from the US was sent to cover the momentous event. As he was taking notes, He soon tired of writing "Commonwealth of the Northern Dominion" in his rough drafting asked one of the dignitaries if there was a preferred way to abbreviate the name. The dignitary replied,"Why yes! Simply, C eh, N eh, D eh!" So the young reporter dispatched his article with the headline, BRITISH NORTH AMERICA ACT UNITES PROVINCES INTO THE NATION OF CANADA!

Congrats to our hockey fan neighbors in the Dominion of Canada. see you next year!

That’s how it’s written up in our history books!

Thanks Chris - next year for sure. Isn’t 2026 a Winter Olympics year? Would there be two chances for them to meet? That would be something.
