Tailgate Damper

With how light the tailgate is, we run the risk of it not opening on it's own with those assisted close dampers

maybe the cure is something like a spring-assist wire/bungee type setup that does not impede the opening/closing but allows it a more gentile 'stop' if its gravity-opened [dropped]...? Any further help, I bill out my engineering services at $150 an hour..cash, no bitcoin or S&H green stamps.

I’m just a guy w the ability to make shit work and a shop full of tools and machines to help me. I got sick of waiting for somebody else to make in 6 months what I can do in a few hours and a few beers

I would love to do that honestly, you think people would want that? Those gas struts are pennies from China and the rest you can get from a local hardware store.

Also if that were the case I’d spend a little extra time to make it look super ninja stealthy so u could barely see it.

Look at how many "I'm in" posts in the Panda thread about the tailgate damper. There is definitely quite a market for something like this.

If you start selling through the Forum you might need to change status to a vendor. You could check with the moderators on rules here.
I bring this up because on the GTI MK7 forum this became and issue for a talented exhaust and down pipe maker. There can be a conflict.
But making a product that is wanted and easy to install, people will buy.
If like the seller in this recent example, your product does not work Jo.one will buy if one has to mark it work. The seller should have done better homework. We are the customer.

I finally got time to go out to the garage and put this on... I am greatly disappointed! This is for the Global Ford Ranger and not the US Ford Ranger. The replacement bolt is not the right size to hold the tailgate cable and the shock...

I will still look around for a tailgate damper that works with the US Ford Ranger....

I wish the Ford shop sold one, or even thought of offering one.

I was told by DeeZee that their damper was built and had a Ford part number. Also that for now that's the only place to get it. That said I have not taken the time to verify.
