I pulled 7.3 quarts out of my transmission at 20,250 miles, and put in 6.3 quarts of new ULV and a 10 oz bottle of LubeGuard Platinum Transmission Protectorant.

My transmission has been plagued with all manner of bad shifts both up and down. You name it and I have experienced it for the last 15K miles. It was so bad that we pretty much refused to drive it for fear of it stranding us. My wife wanted me to unload it.

I was at my wits end and was told about this stuff by ctechbob (Shawn). Took me 12 months to noodle over it and I finally decided what do I have to loose. Late yesterday I did the work.

Started the truck and shifted it through the range several times at 10 seconds in each gear. I then called my wife out and we took a 60 mile trip at interstate speeds, and back country roads where I put the truck through it paces. I watched it change gears with low throttle and most of the time I had a difficult time feeling the shift. In short, NOT ONE ISSUE! Silky smooth shifts up and down. I could not even feel the shifts once I past 4th gear! No more sudden jerks when starting or stopping, no lagging or hard shifts. They are all GONE!

If you are interested, I posted the details, observations, and results in this thread starting at Page 6 Entry #85

2 days and 125 miles later my truck transmission shifts silky smooth! It has been smooth from the moment I drove it out of the garage. I would have not believed it possible.

There ought to be sticky at the top of the Ranger5G forum about this stuff. It can save all of us a fortune in transmission repair costs.

If your transmission is behaving badly, you owe it to yourself to try this stuff. It worked for ctechbob, it has worked for me, and it has worked for at least one fellow with a 2018 F-150 whose transmission was behaving the same way and the dealer told him he needed to replace it. I read his review. He hates additives and only put 2 oz in his transmission!

It won't cure the CDF issue, but it does wonders for the solenoids and throttle body.

BOTTONLINE
$15 and and hour of my time eliminated 15K miles of serious transmission problems. This is now the truck that I thought I purchased back in 2020! No more "Bucking Bronco!"

I am delighted and relieved. And I am now a believer in LubeGuard Platinum!
What pump did you use to get the transmission fluid out?

Just ordered a bottle for when I change my pan and filter, soon. My transmission shifts fine, no hard or missed shifts, doesn't lug intown. Only thing is it doesn't like cold weather, but I usually remote start on cold mornings to give it a chance to loosen up and get the fluid moving.

Doing this as preventative measure since my 2019 has 34K on it an I do occasionally tow a 4K camper. After reading all the threads about the 10R80 issues, I'm a little worried and always waiting for mine to start acting up. I do have Mike's dipstick and it appears mine was properly filled when I picked it up.

Web site shows a 10 oz and a 15 oz bottle.....how did you determine which to use, in your case the 10 oz size ???

The company recommends to start at 1 oz / quart. But you can go as high as 2 oz / quart. The company has a step by step protocol for curing transmission issues. The FAQs on their website speaks to it. I also read a review where another fellow called them and they guided him through the process. Hi s car had 124K miles on it when he started using it. His mechanics all recommend transmission replacement. When he wrote the review he was at 265K miles and it was still shifting fine. There are many many reviews out there saying the same thing. Search Amazon and read the verified buyers reviews - good and bad. I even searched the web and found transmission rebuild mechanics using and recommending the stuff.

I found it on sale and bought a case of 12 - 10 oz bottles.

I planned to change out the fluid at 10K intervals until I reached 50K miles, then swap the filter and install the PPE deep pan sitting on the shelf. This would theoretically get me to moderately clean ULV (3 cycles). I don't trust the flush systems and thought 3 cycles would get me close, 90% or so. I figures 1-2 bottles per change would cover that period, in a worstr case scenario.

I really wasn't sure if this stuff was going to work (I was quite skeptical), and this was the last straw. If it didn't work, I had already made the decision to sell the truck.

I am really quite surprised. Stunned even.

What pump did you use to get the transmission fluid out?
Click on the link embedded in the snippet below

"So I began this afternoon by pulling the fluid out via the MBS Dipstick (aka the "Fitz Stick"). I managed to remove just over 7 quarts of fluid using this inexpensive 12v pump."

Got the warning, Oil Change Soon. It was down to 5% so I changed the oil and filter. I have changed the oil 6 times in 5 years with 20,300 miles. It seems like only yesterday I got the truck.
I feel the same way, times flying. We must have purchased around the same time. I changed my oil for the 6th time last week too. Only mine has just 3,564 miles.

Finally changed out Soupie's nuts. Now we're beefier! =D

New nuts are 6.2% heavier!

Old one nut average: 46.9 grams (1.7 ounces)
New one nut average: 49.9 gm (1.76 oz)

single piece Dorman nuts (only 20 for weighing purposes)

Great, now Greta's gonna hate on Soupie and the lower mpg from all of this.

Okie Dokie.....I bought a bottle of this and threw it into my Ranger....
A few things....
I have no problems with the trans and have never had any. I drive in tow mode 100% of the time, towing and solo.
Have approaching 23,000 miles on Truck, and have a Fitzstick.
Fitzstick showed my fluid, before putting 10 oz in was pretty much right where it was supposed to be, and after, the addition of 10 oz did not appear to raise the level to a point where I could read a difference. After all talking about only 10 oz which would be nothing more than a very thin film over the size of the trans pan.
Drove a total of 75 miles on I-64 to Charlottesville and back, running around 70 mph. Noting before and after, the trans, via my Butt-O-Meter in Trans Shifting Mode Notification, did seem to shift a bit smoother....hard to put into words as, to me, the trans shifted just fine before, but I had nothing to compare it against, other than other members posts. Just seemed to shift "smoother" than before.
I figure that as when I tow, it's a heavy trailer, and Truck is working hard, so anything that helps is a benefit.
