My bed is too high. Acts like a big air brake to keep speed down?
Hmmmmmm.....
I wonder at what speed the air piling up against the tailgate would overcome the tailgate latches ability to hold the tailgate closed ???
And, would the addition of a "damper" add to the ability of the latches to keep the tailgate closed.....
(You'all knew the "damper" had to make it's way into this thread )

Maybe the difference between years and/or models.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Yikes. I missed mine by a split second. Freakin' roadside assistance guy was coming down the on ramp lit up like a Christmas Tree, thought it was state patrol. Distracted me.

Looked back just in time to see drunky coming straight at me in my lane, swerved onto the shoulder right before he blew by.

Aggravating.
My closest was a perp running from a traffic stop on an overpass, I was closing to intercept from a feeder when he crashed through the guardrail and dropped 50’ and landed right in front of me, like you I was able to swerve and missed him by a hair, but did almost lose control and did a 360. Don’t know if the guy died in the crash or the subsequent fire.

Acts like a spoiler and helps keep the rear end planted.

Sure it can. Foamy, overheated transmission fluid makes a TERRIBLE hydraulic fluid, and when it gets pumped through the valvebody all sorts of weirdness can happen.
Transmission fluid, is mostly hydraulic oil.
Foamy oil won't compress and keep the clutches locked. = massive flaring

Can also cause the valves not to move the proper distance or at the programmed speed. Applying one and not applying another, and then you're in for all sorts of 'this shouldn't be happening'.

So when I head to ford tomorrow will they hook me up to scanners to see how fast I was going and trans temp? I have no idea how any of that works so I appolgize for my idiotism in advance.

I actually might try this. I was doing some fucking crazy shit on the highway… the median and shoulders is a lane right? Sorry Mr Technician, I was trying to avoid the other cars!

Probably not. The way I understand it is the ECU only captures and stores data when a DTC is set.

If it set a code, then it captures a few frames before the code set. But yes, if it set a code and the data was stored it will be a copy of everything the truck was doing at that moment, including speed.

Update…

So they’re saying that my transmission warranty is no longer because I put an aftermarket metal pan on. Fuck sake another shitshow with my ranger and the dealer.

Any suggestions on how do deal with this bull?
