Alright, here is what I did. Picked up that heater hose for a 1994 Ranger that is 3/8" ID with nice thick walls:

Next, here is the progress, old verses the parts I assembled:

The old one next to the part that basically fell off in my hand last night. You can see how thin the walls are:

And finally, the finished product:

Dunno how happy I am about the hand twist clamps I bought but I realized they were like that after I got it apart. But, it seems OK.

Notice, I'm a Sys Admin by trade so I shorted the safety wire and kept it in there. It seems to still be able to float and I ran it and it all seemed fine. Fortunately I have a double flaring tool so I could put those flanges on for the clamps which makes me feel better about it all holding together.

The hose looks great! Between the two of us, we are going to find out if it is the hose failing or the bearing. But it may take another 3-5 years!

What brand flaring tool do you have? It seems to do a pretty good job. I've been looking for one for a while, but I want to only purchase it once. Sub par tools are everywhere.

It's a snap on. Many, many, years ago my cousin made dogfood and had two auto repair facilities near him. He got to know the snap on guy and when I was there I blew some $$ on some snap on tools too.

And yea it makes some great flairs. Came in handy for all the times I made brake lines and even when I had to make fuel lines for my '65 Mustang when I put an '87 SEFI motor in it. That tool has been dormant for too long but it earned it's rent in the tool box tonight!

As for the failure. I'm hoping my parts friend can find out something by nosing around with the service guys. He's got a lot of good connections.

Just a noted FYI, as I am not sure of your intentions of the Safety Wire.

This is a negative safety.
The module spins CW, as you are sitting in the truck.

It does? The fan spins CW as I'm standing in front of the truck. I guess I've misunderstood the failure mode then. I thought the failure modes were that the module would spin with the fan and warp around the fan clutch pulling the wires out. What we don't know is that if the hose fails, will the module be pulled enough to do so or if there is a need for the bearing to go bad or the module to somehow catch the fan clutch to do so.

Well, I am eating CROW, you are CORRECT.
I got caught up in the description and got it backwards Grr

I have seen so many sensors that with the hose broken and wire damaged and the sensor resting position is rotated CW, (as you are sitting in the truck)
I assumed the rotation was towards the (Engine mount point of the hose)
I never thought, hey stupid the engine fan spins the other way.

GOOD CATCH

Boy did I screw that one up:explode::headbang::headbang:

I apologize to all for my brief blunder of misinformation.

Whew, I was sure I was wrong! When smart people tell me I'm wrong, I believe them. When I can't figure out why I'm wrong, I get worried! :)

According to my wife, I am never right. I'm pretty sure she's wrong.
My wife agreed to live with me, so her judgement is suspect...

I looked up the fan clutch and if the pic is correct (and I have the right part#) the hose does not look like it is formed to the shape as on the Ranger. Or am I not seeing what I think I am seeing?

Actually, I think it's for an F150. And it looks like the wires are routed inside the hose.
