Truck has been in the shop for a month now, this is the "progress" picture I was sent today when I let the tech know I was coming down to pick up (I was told it would be done).
A *MONTH*?? I'm just a garage tinkerer and did this entire job myself in my garage at home over a Saturday and Sunday while working at a pretty leisurely pace.

A month is ... ridiculous.

I'm so glad I did this job myself. It was a big job, but not actually all that difficult.

Here's a shot of mine at the most fully disassembled stage:

New climate control assembly under warranty (200 miles left on ESP), had them put in new actuators while they're in there.

After it's been fixed how many folks are complaining about a rattle in the dash... Could the mechanics at least install wire mesh to stop the mice. But you know if you were in a pinch for a 10mm socket you could disassemble again and have a freebie fixing the source of the rattle.

I look at that pick and think if I get a heater issue I just might pickup a 12v heater and put it in the back

I have a 21 Lariat with 6k miles and I heard a click from under the dash at least once during the last 2 wks. Is this the start of heater woes????

Yup I was afraid of that. The only good news is I extended my warranty too 10 yrs. 48k miles and don't expect to hit the miles, so I have 7+ years left.

Could also be a mouse crunching on something... Never panic on the first occurrence of could it be... We are all hypochondriacs when it comes to 'could it be ....?'. But the problem has been described as a clicking noise not to my thinking just one click. Someone who has had the issue can better speak to it's nature. When you know the world of what could be... Hard not to fear the possibility

I'm a hearty garage mechanic myself as well, but warranty is warranty. Like you, I guarantee I could have had it done in a weekend, which is why I'm frustrated that it's taking so long.

Hopefully they provided you with a loaner vehicle during this time!!!

Yeah, when this issue started with my truck, I was at right around 40,000 miles, so no more warranty for this. Even if I had one, though, given the horror stories I've heard about dealer experiences I'm not sure it's worth it.

100 years of building cars and Ford still can't get this right. No other make I've ever owned has had this problem.
And yes mine clicks too, but still works, and in reality we we live, hardly ever use the heat anyway, although I do realise that it could literally be a life and death issue for some of you guys.

However if my wife was driving it in summer and the cool didn't work, could be a life and death issue for me.

God bless you sir! My damn 5g just started the clicking in dash thing yesterday. I just rolled past the warranty about 2 weeks ago. I was flippin livid... so if mine stops working, im trying your method first. if that dont fix it im going to light the truck on fire and call the insurance company, then kick back and light up a cigar.

They did, to their credit, no hassles at all. Really to be honest, they've been good besides how long everything has taken. I have a new transmission, rear driveshaft, and climate box, all under warranty.

Mine went full heat on the drivers side today... 84K miles and out of warranty. Has anyone actually got a price from a dealer for this repair? Pulled dashboards before so I will probably just do myself.
