There is probably more to this story. If Toyota made a habit out of trying to get out of high dollar warranty claims, we would have heard a lot about it. Also, Toyota dealers would have a hell of a time trying to sell Toyota ESP's.I’ve heard of Toyota doing this from friends and family of their vehicles. One even had their cvt transmission claim rejected with only 42k on the whole vehicle claiming that it was “abused”. They bought the car to make a 70 mile highway round trip to and from work.
Your right that Toyota could deny the warranty claim. But, if they site towing before 500 miles as the reason, what would towing a trailer on the paved roads have to do with a failure in the front wheel drive area of the 4wd system? But for conversation's sake, lets say that Toyota rejects the warranty claim, and the service advisor hands Roman and Andre a $3k repair bill. They may not be as upset as one of us would be. 1.19M subscribers on their YouTube channel. 461 K views as of today on the Tacoma broke down video. That number will only go up. Now I could not imagine the number of views on a Toyota denied our warranty claim video. Worse yet, they have a bunch of videos showing what they put the truck through and the actual failure happening. For this reason, I find it very hard to believe that Toyota will deny this claim. These guys are big hitters with a very established communication channel.Personally, nope.
But they would be within their rights to deny the claim.
They picked the truck up in Texas, and immediately went and picked up a trailer and towed it back to colorado on the highway.
Just a random dealership, but it says no towing for the first 500 miles....

If they didn't follow that simple guideline, what else were they doing to abuse the vehicle?
Did you see the video where they took it out in the snow and were accelerating and braking as quickly as possible?
I'm not saying toyota won't replace whatever broke, but I think they would be within their rights not to and make them pay for it.
Based on the fact that Toyotas chief engineer called them to discuss the issue, toyota isn't denying anything.Your right that Toyota could deny the warranty claim. Also, to put that 1.19M subscribers into perspective, I Googled the circulation of the Car and Driver magazine. According to Google, the total Car and Driver circulation in 2022 was 687, 235. So, C & D has 58% of the subscribers that TFL Truck has. That is why I say that Roman and Andre are big hitters.
This one is getting a lot of negative exposure and is a brand new product, so Toyota is in full fireman mode. One broken front diff on a Toyota and they have 20 techs working on it and a lead engineer involved.
Ford has multiple transmission failures and hey let’s try a software fix first then maybe a valve body… seems Toyota takes selling a decent product more seriously than ford does.
I could not agree more.Based on the fact that Toyotas chief engineer called them to discuss the issue, toyota isn't denying anything.
(if I was the service advisor I would have just because Roman is fvcking annoying, which leads directly into below).
My point I guess at the end of the day is dealerships suck, service departments are out to get as much out of the customer as possible and the manufacturers let it happen.
The main thing I got from the video is that truck is butt ugly.
Leave blueberry alone. The main thing I got from the video is that truck is butt ugly.
Now that is a sweet truck!Leave blueberry alone.
Not everyone can look as sexy as my truck.
