So my wife mentioned it and I had her back the car up and it’s pretty wild. Silent rolling forward but backing up there is a curious rattle on the drivers side rear. Not really tied to speed it seems either.

curious if there is a rock in the brake shield, but not sure why it wouldn’t make a noise going forward.

I haven’t had a chance to pull the wheel and check yet, anyone else seen this?

No sound on my phone cause i tossed it one too many times, but I can bet that its a rock/pebble. They don't always make directional sound, though.

If not a pebble then something, I'd just pull the wheel off if you're able to.

minus 2 points for calling the truck a car

Noise in one direction could be caused by the debris (hopefully) or part riding up and making contact with something in reverse and riding back down out of the way moving forward.

Why do we say, moving in reverse but not moving in forward, or in backward??

Doesn't matter what direction the vehicle is going....it's dependent on which way YOU are facing.
If your vehicle is going backward, but your facing backward, than in reality, your vehicle is going forward.
If you are facing backward, and your vehicle is going forward, in reality, it is actually going backward.
It really gets complicated for those Aussie's down under, cause their upside down and everything is reversed.........
Now, it's time to check the blinker bearing grease.......

Reminds me of those times when you just pull in beside a car in a parking lot and as soon as you stop, the car beside you backs out and you think you’re still moving forward and just about put your foot through the firewall!

Gets me every time!

Truth! My wife did that when I was a passenger. We parked and she was gathering he stuff when the vehicle next to her started backing out. She slammed that brake pedal so hard! I laughed my ass off!

I didn't expect this to turn into a semantic thing :) I guess it's because we are moving in reverse gear, I guess we could say moving in Drive as well for forward? I'll consult with the rock stuck in my brake shield to see what it prefers the nomenclature to be :)

Found the lil bast'rd. It was right by the debris exit on the bottom of the brake shield but just wouldn't fall out on its own. Cut a nice groove into the back of the disk that I could feel with my gloves.

I'm glad you found it. That groove in the disk is your new "cooling duct."

Planning a trip to Western Africa?

haha took me a second to realize the Africa reference :) I have a world map keyboard/mouse pad that I do use now and then to plan up some trips from time to time :)
